Bug#877944: Krusader: at startup, shows 7 popups regarding duplicate short commands

2017-10-07 Thread Peter Poeschl
Package: krusader
Version: 2:2.6.0-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?
Upgraded testing after ~2 months (ca. 1100 packages).
NOTE: krusader was *not* among the updated packages, therefore I suspect one
  of the updated libraries krusader depends on.

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?
krusader is auto-started after login.

   * What was the outcome of this action?
I have to click away 7 popups with warning messages, see attached screen shot
for the first.

Bug#864229: nftables: ICMPv6 accept ignored, breaks IPv6

2017-06-05 Thread Peter Poeschl
Package: nftables
Version: 0.7-1
Severity: important
Tags: ipv6

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?

Tried to migrate my iptables/ip6tables based firewall to nftables.

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?

inet input and output chains have a
  ip6 nexthdr ipv6-icmp counter accept
expression in the ruleset.nft config file

   * What was the outcome of this action?

ICMPv6 output frames are rejected, ICMPv6 input frames are dropped.
This breaks neighborhood discovery, ping6 gets no reply (the response frames
are not passed in the router). This is not a router configuration problem,
because switching to the iptables/ip6tables setup makes IPv6 work again.

   * What outcome did you expect instead?
ICMPv6 frames should be accepted to make neighborhood discovery possible.

Bug#828678: dibbler-client: overwrites /etc/resolv.conf link (aka. no resolvconf support)

2016-06-26 Thread Peter Poeschl
Package: dibbler-client
Version: 1.0.1-1
Severity: normal
Tags: ipv6 patch

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?
Installed dibbler-client

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?
Start the dibbler-client daemon

   * What was the outcome of this action?
The /etc/resolv.conf symlink was overwritten with a resolv.conf file

   * What outcome did you expect instead?
dibbler-client should call resolvconf to let it update the file linked to by
/etc/resolv.conf.

Installing and compiling the dibbler source package, I found in
dibbler-config.h

   /* Support for /sbin/resolvconf enabled? */
   /* #undef MOD_RESOLVCONF */

i.e. the package is compiled without resolvconf support.

Adding the attached patch solved the problem.

Bug#732697: /usr/sbin/dibbler-client: dibbler_client: segfaults in TClntCfgMgr::validateConfig

Package: dibbler-client

Each time I start dibbler-client, it terminates with a segmentation fault.

Compiling with debug symbols and starting with GDB I get:

expected minor version=2;real minor version=2;
expected subminor version=18;real subminor version=14
libgeier: loaded xmlsec library version is not compatible.

Sending data to the Revenue Service is then not possible.

The problem seems to be too restrictive version requirements libxmlsec,
because after recompiling libgeier0 from source with testing build-deps
fixes the problem.

Bug#675272: dibbler-client: hangs indefinitely on 'stop' (prevents shutdown)

2012-05-30 Thread Peter Poeschl
Package: dibbler-client
Version: 0.8.2-1
Severity: important
Tags: ipv6

Dear Maintainer,

dibbler-client has problems with starting and stopping:

1)  # dibbler-client start
# dibbler-client start

  deletes /var/lib/dibbler/client.pid, but the first instance of the client is
still running.

# dibbler-client stop

  then complains 'Process is not running.' and does not stop the client.

2) this case is more serious:
After a regular start

# dibbler-client stop

does not work.

it prints

2010-04-11 Thread Peter Poeschl
Package: efax

Any attempt to send a postscript file fails with

efax: 38:50 Error: can't read multi-strip TIFF files
efax: 38:50 Error: missing offset to TIFF data
efax: 38:50 done, returning 2 (unrecoverable error)

>From http://comments.gmane.org/gmane.comp.printing.ghostscript.cvs/9046
it seems, that efax doesn't like the tiff files generated by ghostscript
anymore (or deeper: The problem is really that 'efax' is a non-compliant TIFF
reader).

The workaround would be for efax to call gs with an additional option

  -dMaxStripSize=0

Bug#544514: mount: "user" cannot umount loop-mounted image file

2009-09-01 Thread Peter Poeschl
Package: mount
Version: 2.15.1~rc1-1
Severity: important

Since an update from version 2.13.1.1-1 I cannot umount a loop-mounted image
file anymore as non-root. The umount command fails with

$ umount ~/arbeit/mnt/
umount: /home/pp/arbeit/mnt mount disagrees with the fstab

so I always have to become root to umount.

$ grep arbeit/mnt /etc/fstab
/media/mo1/pp/IMAGE.img /home/pp/arbeit/mnt auto rw,user,noauto,loop 0 2

This failure is explained, when the relevant outputs of mount-2.13 and
mount-2.15 are compared:

$ diff -U 0 mount_2.13.txt mount_3.15.txt
--- mount_squeeze_2.13.txt   2009-09-01 08:31:05.0 +0200
+++ mount_squeeze_2.15.txt   2009-09-01 08:47:34.0 +0200
-/media/mo1/pp/IMAGE.img on /home/pp/arbeit/mnt type ext3
(rw,noexec,nosuid,nodev,loop=/dev/loop0,user=pp)
+/dev/loop0 on /home/pp/arbeit/mnt type ext3 (rw,noexec,nosuid,nodev,user=pp)

So it seems as if mount regressed by not noting the loop-mount anymore.

Bug#505448: fails to eject MO-disk

2008-11-12 Thread Peter Poeschl
Package: eject
Version: 2.1.5+deb1-4
Severity: important

For some time now, eject fails to eject a MO-disk from my Fujitsu MCM3130AP,
an IDE device connected to the motherboard via a SATA-IDE bridge.
Upon the eject command the drive spins down, but instead of ejecting the disk
it reregisteres with the system.
eject used to work with this hardware until about July. Since then several
updates have taken place (including kernel 2.6.25 -> 2.6.26), but I cannot
say which broke eject, as I don't use the drive very often.

It does not matter if the command is issued as root or normal user.

The verbose output of eject is not very helpfull:

$ LANG=C eject -v /media/mo1
eject: device name is `/media/mo1'
eject: expanded name is `/media/mo1'
eject: `/dev/sdb1' is mounted at `/media/mo1'
eject: unmounting device `/dev/sdb1' from `/media/mo1'
eject: `/dev/sdb1' is a multipartition device
eject: trying to eject `/dev/sdb1' using CD-ROM eject command
eject: CD-ROM eject command failed
eject: trying to eject `/dev/sdb1' using SCSI commands
eject: SCSI eject succeeded

This might indicate a problem in the kernel instead of eject:

Bug#496101: xserver-xorg-input-all: Logitech MX510: Grab failed (Bad file descriptor)

2008-08-22 Thread Peter Poeschl
Package: xserver-xorg-input-all
Version: 1:7.3+15
Severity: normal

When I log out of a kdm session, the mouse does not work in the login screen
anymore.
The keyboard seems to be effected, too: TAB works, so I can get to the
'login' and 'shutdown' buttons, but ENTER does not work, so I cannot shutdown
this way.
Also the Hotkeys do not work correctly, but are entered as password characters.

Workaround:
If I Alt-Ctrl-F1 to the console and Alt-F7 back everything works again.
