Bug#580552: rsyslog: messages with severity warn are discarded by default

2010-05-06 Thread Petr Rockai
Package: rsyslog
Version: 4.6.2-1
Severity: important

The default rsyslog.conf contains, for the /var/log/messages catchall, the
following:

*.=info;*.=notice;*.=warn;

which drops everything with severity above warning (!). Suggest adding:

*.=error;*.=crit;

   Petr.

Bug#568579: haskell-mode: byte-compilation fails with xemacs21

2010-02-23 Thread Petr Rockai
Hi,

Aaron M. Ucko u...@debian.org writes:
Byte-compilation with xemacs21 fails due to two issues:

 - haskell-decl-scan.el and haskell-indentation.el require 'syntax,
which runs into trouble despite the use of noerror because
xemacs21's syntax.el is present but neglects to provide 'syntax.
Changing the calls to (load syntax t), or perhaps (load syntax t t)
if silence is desired, should help.

 - haskell-font-lock.el uses hexadecimal literals such as #X2205 for
some Unicode characters, but xemacs21 evidently doesn't support that
syntax. Substituting decimal equivalents, as already done elsewhere
in the file, should address the issue.

Could you please take care of both?
-- well, patches are welcome. I don't run xemacs and I have only very
limited time for this. Moreover, xemacs is not supported upstream, so I
can't do much in that direction either.

I am sorry but can't help you much (well, other than applying patches as
long as they don't break GNU emacs).

Yours,
   Petr.

can you try changing your indent mode to the previous default? (add-hook

I will probably flip this back, since it seems that the older default

Hard to tell, really. Upstream seems to suggest this is now the
preferred indentation mode (but I might have missed something). I have
been using recently and I am not sure about it either.

I'll try to check with the upstream, and possibly revert to the previous
behaviour.

Bug#542232: adept plans for squeeze?

2009-08-31 Thread Petr Rockai
Hi,

Ana Guerrero a...@debian.org writes:
Long time ago I read about adept being discontinued [0]. However, a new
version was uploaded a couple of weeks ago with 2 big problems,
it FTBFS (#540648) and it lacks of a real maintainer now , specially since
the used list is moderated (#540229). Due to this, the package has been
 removed today from testing.
I was wondering what are the future plans for adept, specially with respect
its status for releasing it in Squeeze.
Yes, Adept is currently discontinued as far as development goes. But Enrico
needed to change something about libept which is required to build adept, so I
tried to kick the package into some shape. Due to limited time and broken
pbuilder, it took a little longer than I'd like, but all RC issues should be
fixed again now.

Otherwise, when I have time, I'll fix bugs and maybe even add a feature here
and there. Don't count on anything though, I may disappear without further
notice again.

Bug#503288: /etc/init.d/buildbot reload crashes buildslaves

2008-10-24 Thread Petr Rockai
Package: buildbot
Version: 0.7.9-1
Severity: important

Hi,

for me, issuing /etc/init.d/buildbot reload (after changing master
configuration, eg.), slaves die, since they don't seem to like getting a
SIGHUP. I have solved this by changing reload_buildbot to the following:

70 reload_buildbot() {
71 NAME=$1
72 USER=$2
73 BASEDIR=$3
74 PREFIXCMD=$4
75
76 if test -f ${BASEDIR}/master.cfg; then
77   ${PREFIXCMD} su -s /bin/sh -c ${DAEMON} sighup ${BASEDIR} - ${USER}
78 else
79 echo -n not sighup-ing slave
80 fi
81 return $?
82 }

The master is apparently responsible for pushing the new configuration out to
the slaves.

Thanks.

   Petr.

2008-09-29 Thread Petr Rockai
Package: darcs
Version: 2.0.2-2
Severity: important

This is a ghc bug affecting darcs: #500407. The net effect is that darcs will
read full repository and pristine cache contents even in (the usual) case that
is not needed, slowing it down by a few orders of magnitude (several seconds
vs. several tenths of a second).

The GHC bug has been recently fixed and a darcs upload will follow shortly.

Bug#491799: Slow darcs in sid -- not reproducible.

2008-08-06 Thread Petr Rockai
Hi.

I get this, with cache enabled:

darcs get http://allmydata.org/source/tahoe/trunk-hashedformat trunk-hashed-1
8,08s user 0,72s system 79% cpu 11,062 total

I presume quite a bit of that time is due to network delays. I am running 2.0.2
from Debian here. I guess that rules Debian bugs out?

Fair to close the bug? I suspect a cache problem. Make sure the cache is in the
same filesystem as the one you are getting to! (That might explain the problem
in the case the cache is in fact enabled...)

   Petr.

lost+found (which it is denied). It sort of works now, but it would be better
to not need that (chown) workaround and all...

Bug#488115: gc_approx tries to remove lost+found if cache is a separate filesystem

2008-06-26 Thread Petr Rockai
Hi,

Eric Cooper [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes:
I don't want to add code just to check for the special case where
approx's cache directory is the root of an ext2/3 filesystem. An easy
workaround (no chown required) is to make a top-level directory, say
cache, in your dedicated filesystem, and symlink /var/cache/approx
 to /approx_filesystem/cache.
a less-specific way to fix that problem would be ignoring inaccessible
(ie. non-approx-owned) files and directories in there, instead of erroring out.

But I won't pursue a fix for that if you disagree, feel free to close the issue

Bug#486668: iceccd needs to be restarted upon gcc/g++ upgrades

2008-06-17 Thread Petr Rockai
Package: icecc
Version: 0.9.0-1
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

Hi,

when gcc version on the system changes, iceccd needs to be restarted to pick up
the new gcc into its environment, otherwise all subsequent builds will break
until either ICECC_VERSION is reset or iceccd is restarted.

Here comes a patch that uses dpkg triggers to implement a solution (although
that is a little over-paranoid, as it will trigger restarts even if non-default
gcc version is altered, but I can't think of a good way to avoid that).

Yours,
Petr.

Bug#485631: darcs: FTBFS on IA64 due to compiler bug

2008-06-10 Thread Petr Rockai
Package: darcs
Version: 2.0.0-3
Severity: serious
Justification: no longer builds from source

Darcs does not build on IA64 with gcc-4.3, due to
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=481592

There's a workaround to not pass -g to CFLAGS, but we'd probably prefer to have
that bug fixed instead.

Thanks.

2008-04-22 Thread Petr Rockai
Hi,

I am a DD and willing to sponsor darcs packages for Trent, possibly
even co-maintain. I am a darcs user and I have poked in the code a
little, so I suppose I can handle that job.

Unless other people have stepped up, I'd make an upload, flipping
Maintainer to Trent W. Buck [EMAIL PROTECTED] and Uploaders to
myself and Isaac near the end of this week. Complain if you disagree!

(I am rebuilding and installing the packages now.)

Bug#473484: [adept] Adept 2.x broken?

2008-04-05 Thread Petr Rockai
Rafael [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes:
Sorry, but I, and other people, cannot understand why you say Adept
2.x is terminally broken while other distributions as like as
Kubuntu 8.04 are going to be released with Adept 2.x packages. We
would like one small explanation please.
Well, 2.x in Debian doesn't even run. I have installed the package
from unstable and it crashed on startup. That's RC-bugginess of
coarsest kind. Moreover, I am the upstream maintainer and I *know* the
application is broken in many respects that are hard to fix. I don't
have time to support such a broken program, sorry. Moreover, every bit
of time I spend on Adept 2.x is a bit of time I cannot spend on Adept
3 -- as you can see, I am fairly busy and I already had to drop the
release target of 3.0 in april, (probably postponing it to september).

As for other distributions, that's their call -- they maybe have time
for support that I do not posses.

Thank you for your understanding.

Yours,
Peter.

Bug#459488: [Daniel Burrows] Bug#459488: Better list indentation.

2008-02-15 Thread Petr Rockai
Hi,

roughly the same story as with the previous report. Again, in case you
reply, please keep [EMAIL PROTECTED] in the CC
list. Thanks.

Yours,
Peter.

---BeginMessage---
Package: haskell-mode
Version: 2.3-1
Severity: wishlist

Haskell-mode's default list indentation often seems to me do to the
wrong thing. Just to take a few examples:

module Test(name1,
name2,
name3)

here haskell-mode wants to indent name2 to match the comma after
name1. It does produce the correct indentation on the second cycle,
but there's no reason to produce the incorrect one at all.

x = [elt, elt2,
 elt3, elt4]

As before, elt3 would get indented to match the comma after elt.

x = [elt, elt2,
 ]

This one happens because my modus operandi for entering lists is to
type [], then start filling the list in. haskell-mode indents the
closing brace to match the opening brace, rather than placing the cursor
where the next list item goes as I would expect.

x = [ (n * 2, n) | n - [1..],

Hitting Tab on the empty line here gives me three choices: indent to
match [1..], add a second pipe matching the first pipe, or indent to
match the open paren of the tuple. None of these indentations make any
sense in the current syntactic context (except if I'm using the ghc
extension for parallel list comprehensions, but I think haskell-mode is
blindly treating the pipe as starting a guard expression).

x = [ (n * 2, n) | n - [1..],
   n 50 ]

haskell-mode tries to indent n 50 to match either [1..] or the
open paren of the tuple. As before, neither of these makes sense in the
current context; the only sensible indentation is the one I've provided
above.

As far as I can tell from the code, the root cause of these problems
is that haskell-mode doesn't have any notion that ending a line with a
list separator (that is, a comma or semicolon) changes the indentation
context. Commas and semicolons always terminate an expression, so
there's no need to scan back for indentation points.

I've attached a patch that adds explicit logic for handling the
indentation of items in a delimited list. In addition to the cases
listed above, this also handles the idiom of placing the list separator
at the front of a line as in (1), and one possible idiom for a newline
after opening a list as in (2). In the second case, it might be good to
provide alternative behavior in the case of a hanging open brace, but
I'm not quite sure how best to acheive that in the code.

  (1): x = [ 1
   , 2]

  (2): x = [
 1
   ]

Note that the patch I've attached also fixes #343248, by not looking
past pipe characters when calculating indent levels.

2008-02-15 Thread Petr Rockai
Hi once again (and for now, last time).

This is the third report for haskell-mode, still the same
story. Please keep CC to [EMAIL PROTECTED] in replies.

Thank you very much.

---BeginMessage---
Package: haskell-mode

haskell-mode places characters that form Haskell symbols (e.g.: +
and =) into the Emacs character class _. According to the Emacs
documentation, this class is meant to be used for symbols that may be
part of identifiers even though they are not reserved words. This means
that in the code

f x = a+b

the string a+b is considered to be a single lexical element. A
consequence of this is that forward-sexp will move over the whole
thing instead of stopping at +.

After looking over the Emacs documentation, it seems to me that these
characters more properly belong in the character class ., which seems
to be used for operator symbols in other languages. Changing this in a
local copy of haskell-mode produces the expected results with the above
code (M-C-f stops at the operator and at b).

I'm a bit worried that there might be side effects I haven't noticed
yet; some of the other haskell-mode code seems to use the syntax table
in its processing.

Bug#458561: [Daniel Burrows] Bug#458561: Don't fail to indent lines in unfinished lists.

2008-02-15 Thread Petr Rockai
Hi,

I have received the following report (and few more, which I'll forward
in a bit) against haskell-mode 2.3. The proposed patch should be
attached as well. I haven't noticed anything in 2.4 (which I will
package shortly) that would address the report. I admit to not looking
very closely though.

Please keep [EMAIL PROTECTED] CC'd when you
reply. Thank you.

---BeginMessage---
Package: haskell-mode

In some circumstances, haskell-mode's indent function will fail with
the message Containing sexp ends prematurely. The most frequent, and
annoying, trigger is when writing a list of exports or imports for a
module:

---
module Foo(name1,
   name2,

  )
---

Placing point on the line after name2 and pressing Tab will fail to
find an indentation. This happens because several points in the code
try to scan through lists of symbols using forward-sexp, and
forward-sexp fails when called at the end of a pair of parens. (I
admit that I don't quite follow all the code, but that seems to be
what's happening)

I've worked up a fix that replaces calls to forward-sexp with a
variant that traps errors and pretends we're at the end point of the
scan region if one occurs. The haskell-mode code is, um, rather
complex, so I'm not 100% sure I've done the right thing, but it passed
my 10-second test of reindenting random lines in some existing code.

Hi,

current iteration of Adept in unstable is broken beyond repair (it
ought to be rc-buggy I suppose). There is a newer version in

a badly broken one) -- eg. in case I fail to produce a stable version

Bug#452255: kdelibs5: needlessly depends on hal | kfreebsd-gnu | hurd

2007-11-21 Thread Petr Rockai
Package: kdelibs5
Version: 4:3.96.0-1
Severity: normal

Hi,

I get:

12:51:19 | [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~ - apt install -t experimental kdelibs5 hal-
[snip]
kdelibs5: Depends: hal but it is not going to be installed or
kfreebsd-gnu but it is not installable or
hurd but it is not installable

Which is somewhat annoying, since now all KDE4 apps depend on hal on
linux. This is, according to Solid author unnecessary, so I would ask
to turn this dependency into a recommends, which is more
appropriate. The kdelibs5 works without hal, although it is probably
an uncommon scenario to be encountered without hal installed =
Recommends.

Thanks,
Peter.

Bug#451815: dzen2: new version available

2007-11-18 Thread Petr Rockai
Hi!

Yes, yes, I know and it's been on my TODO already when I was doing the
first upload, I just didn't have the time to move to the new
version. I will try to do it tomorrow.

Yours,
Peter.

Bug#448507: cdbs: documentation suggests binary/foo::, but it only runs after .debs are already packed up

2007-10-29 Thread Petr Rockai
Package: cdbs
Version: 0.4.49
Severity: normal

In documentation, it is suggested that binary/package:: should be
used for post-installation (post-deb-preparation) actions and an
example is given:

binary/foo::
   strip --remove-section=.comment --remove-section=.note --strip-unneeded \
  debian/foo/usr/lib/foo/totoz.so

However, this only runs after the binary .deb is packed up, so the
command is useless (the unstripped version of binary is already part
of the .deb). The right hook seems to read binary-install/package.

Yours, Peter.

cdbs depends on no packages.

Versions of packages cdbs recommends:

ii debhelper 5.0.59 helper programs for debian/rules

Bug#429227: dzen2 packaging status

2007-10-14 Thread Petr Rockai
Hi.

A. Christine Spang [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes:
It looks like xmonad will soon be entering the archive. What is your
status with regard to dzen2 packages?
Sorry, i got stalled at missing manpage, ie. the package is ready
and working, i just need to write and include a manpage, which
shouldn't take much, but still. If anyone has a workable manpage, i'd
be happy to take it and upload this week. Otherwise, i still try to
make it this week, but i cannot promise...

Yours, Peter.
