Bug#319466: automatically use STARTTLS for IMAP connections
Package: mozilla-thunderbird Version: 1.0.2-3 Severity: enhancement It would be handy if Thunderbird could automatically negotiate SSL encryption for IMAP connections on port 143 by using the STARTTLS command. At present, the only way to select SSL seems to be to go into the account settings dialog and tick the SSL box. Users tend to forget to do this: it would be better if TLS was just enabled automatically when the server supports it. Also, the existing SSL option causes Thunderbird to connect to the imaps service on port 993, which causes trouble with some corporate firewalls that block outbound connections on that port. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#309933: libgpewidget1: request to remove dependency on cairo
On Fri, 2005-05-20 at 16:39 +0100, Dave Beckett wrote: I am the maintainer of the cairo libraries in debian and I have recently made the request that they be removed from sarge as the API is about to make a big change and it is probably a bad idea to ship the old api version in a release: http://lists.debian.org/debian-release/2005/05/msg01167.html Although this request is still under consideration, libgpewidget is one of the few (2) apps using cairo going into sarge. I checked the libgpewidget1 source and it seems there is alternate code if cairo is not available, which was easy for me to enable with $(make) CAIRO=no in the build rule. Can I request libgpewidget is rebuilt without cairo, removing the build dependency also. Seems reasonable. I'll make that change.
