Bug#330806: ipw2200-source: dhcp not working on some wireless networks
Package: ipw2200-source Version: 1.0.6-6 Severity: normal Tags: experimental As of the 2.6.13 kernel releases ipw2200-source module fails to get a dhcp lease on some wireless networks. This is quite annoying since I need to enter all the static ip address each time. I think it is something to do with the way some routers work in giving out the dhcp lease, but I am not sure. Bug#326938: ipw2200-source: DHCP fails
Package: ipw2200-source Version: 1.0.6-4 Followup-For: Bug #326938 When I moved from 2.6.12.5 to any of the 2.6.13 kernels, dhcp now fails to work with the ipw2200 module. The strange thing is that for some networks it still works. So it is some hard to reproduce bug so I am at a loss to provide more information. I have checked back in 2.6.12.5 it still works on the same system. The only clue I have is that I needed to do a /sbin/iwlist scan as root before trying the ifup to get it to work. Also in the 2.6.13 kernels I now need to do depmod before I can load the module. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.13.2 Locale: LANG=en_GB, LC_CTYPE=en_GB (charmap=ISO-8859-1) Versions of packages ipw2200-source depends on: ii debhelper 4.9.8 helper programs for debian/rules ii ieee80211-source 1.0.3-3Source for the 802.11 (wireless) n ii module-assistant 0.9.9 tool to make module package creati ipw2200-source recommends no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#312659: ipw2200-source: redefinition of `is_multicast_ether_addr'
Package: ipw2200-source Version: 1.0.4-1 Severity: normal Recently in kernel 2.6.12-rc6 there is now a build problem (2.6.12-rc5 was fine). It seems like is_multicast_ether_addr defined in driver/net/ieee80211.h is already defined in the kernel. Here is the error message for more info. make[4]: Entering directory `/usr/src/linux' CC [M] /usr/src/modules/ipw2200/driver/ipw2200.o In file included from /usr/src/modules/ipw2200/driver/ipw2200.h:50, from /usr/src/modules/ipw2200/driver/ipw2200.c:33: /usr/src/modules/ipw2200/driver/net/ieee80211.h:722: error: redefinition of `is_multicast_ether_addr' include/linux/etherdevice.h:67: error: `is_multicast_ether_addr' previously defined here make[5]: *** [/usr/src/modules/ipw2200/driver/ipw2200.o] Error 1 make[4]: *** [_module_/usr/src/modules/ipw2200/driver] Error 2 make[4]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/linux' make[3]: *** [modules] Error 2 make[3]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/modules/ipw2200/driver' make[2]: *** [binary-modules] Error 2 make[2]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/modules/ipw2200' make[1]: *** [kdist_build] Error 2 make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/modules/ipw2200' Module /usr/src/modules/ipw2200 failed. -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.12-rc5 Locale: LANG=en_GB, LC_CTYPE=en_GB (charmap=ISO-8859-1) Versions of packages ipw2200-source depends on: ii debhelper 4.2.36 helper programs for debian/rules ii module-assistant 0.9tool to make module package creati -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#308399: openafs-client: openafs wont shutdown in kernel 2.6.12-rc3
Package: openafs-client Version: 1.3.81-5 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable Openafs wont shutdown. Using Debian unstable, kernel 2.6.12-rc3 and openafs-modules-source 1.3.81-5. There is a thread on the openafs-devel list about it:- https://lists.openafs.org/pipermail/openafs-devel/2005-April/011994.html Essentially, this is grave because you are unable to shutdown Linux after this has occurred. This makes the package unusable since it requires a hard reboot and possible loss of data. There is apparently a fix by enabling CONFIG_SMP in the kernel, but for single processor machines this may result in a significant slow down. -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.12-rc3 Locale: LANG=en_GB, LC_CTYPE=en_GB (charmap=ISO-8859-1) Versions of packages openafs-client depends on: ii debconf [debconf-2 1.4.49Debian configuration management sy ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-21 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libncurses55.4-4 Shared libraries for terminal hand ii openafs-modules-2. 1.3.81-5+2.6.12-rc3-8 The AFS distributed filesystem- Ke ii openafs-modules-so 1.3.81-5 The AFS distributed filesystem- Mo -- debconf information: * openafs-client/fakestat: true * openafs-client/afsdb: true * openafs-client/run-client: false * openafs-client/dynroot: true * openafs-client/crypt: true * openafs-client/thiscell: slac.stanford.edu * openafs-client/cachesize: 5 openafs-client/cell-info: -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to with a subject of "unsubscribe".
