Bug#609371: Info received (linux-image-2.6.37-trunk-sparc64 fails to find the root partition (on Ultra5 running squeeze))

2011-01-28 Thread Phillip Stevens
Using Sparc Ultra5 debian Squeeze packages, and the 2.6.37 Experimental
source,
together with the patch set https://lkml.org/lkml/2011/1/21/386

Everything works as it should.

For the record, compiled with -mcpu=ultrasparc -mvis
and .config from 2.6.37 Experimental kernel package.

Thank you.

Bug#609371: linux-image-2.6.37-trunk-sparc64 fails to find the root partition (on Ultra5 running squeeze)

2011-01-14 Thread Phillip Stevens
This bug affects my Ultra5 running debian squeeze sparc64, producing the
noted result of dropping the boot process out to BusyBox shell. The
linux-base dependency from experimental release is properly installed. All
other packages are from squeeze (testing) release.

Bug#323299: fails to start if adapter address obtained by dhcp-client does not match dhcpd.conf definition

2005-08-15 Thread Phillip Stevens
Package: dhcp
Version: 2.0pl5-19.1
Severity: important

using a transportable router system with multiple eth adapters (wired and
wireless) means that the upstream (WAN) adapter is using dhcp-client to obtain
an IP address/subnet in many "locations". Since the definition of the
upstream eth subnet is hardcoded into the dhcpd.conf file (with no
range configured), if the upstream subnet changes then dhcp fails to start
rendering the downstream network dead too.

This means that a client device attached to the downstream (LAN) obtains
no automatic IP address, and cannot be used to reconfigure the
transportable router unless the client is hacked to a fixed IP.

dhcp needs to be configurable to "ignore" specific eth adapters,
entirely.
