Since upgrading the package all remote printers are gone from my printers list.

Bug#773543: evince printing bug

2014-12-19 Thread Pierre Frenkiel

hi,
The origin of the bug in that evince ignores the printer settings, which is not
the case
with acroread or okular: when printing to a printer with a duplexer, their
default
setting is "double-sided printing: long edge", and when printing to a printer
without
duplexer, the default is "double-sided printing: none" . It is possible to
change
this default with acroread (and evince), but not with okular.
So, for evince, a workaround is to set, in Page setup/layout, the value of the
"two-sided" parameter according the most often used printers, and save it. But
you must not
forget to modify it each time you print to a printer of the other type.

Bug#765833: grub2: default entry ignored

2014-10-18 Thread Pierre Frenkiel
Package: grub2
Version: 2.02~beta2-14
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?
   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?
I set the default entries in /etc/default/grub and in /boot/grub/grub.conf
 i.e "default=8"
   * What was the outcome of this action?
entry ignored: at boot, the default is the 1st menuentry
   * What outcome did you expect instead?
I expect to automatic boot to the menuentry number 8, without interaction.

Bug#504428: gdmsetup in contradiction with gdm documentation

2011-02-06 Thread Pierre Frenkiel
Package: gdm
Version: 2.20.11-4
Severity: normal

here is an extract of the doc found at the Web gnome site:
http://library.gnome.org/admin/gdm/2.20/configuration.html.en

GDM uses two configuration files: the GDM System Defaults Configuration
File (/gdm/defaults.conf) and the GDM Custom Configuration File
(/gdm/custom.conf). The GDM System Defaults File contains the
 =
default configuration choices for GDM, and should not be modified by
the user. The GDM Custom Configuration File is where users may specify
their custom configuration

and (more funny), after a fresh install of the gdm package, you get in
/etc/gdm a file
 named gdm.conf, which says:

# Older versions of GDM used the "gdm.conf" file for configuration. If your
# system has an old gdm.conf file on the system, it will be used instead of
# this file - so changes made to this file will not take effect. Consider
# migrating your configuration to this file and removing the gdm.conf file.

Actually, gdmsetup behaves in the following way:
- if there is a non-empty gdm.conf, it updates it, and tha changes are
taken into account by gdm, and also if I move gdm.conf to custom.conf
- if I remove gdm.conf and then run gdmsetup, it neither creates a gdm.conf
nor updates custom.conf... but the changes are also taken into account by
gdm.
I was unable to locate where the changes are stored in that case.
