Bug#366214: problem solved!

2006-06-11 Thread Rainer Dohmen
Hello @ all,

after experimentating a little bit with my problem, I found the solution for
the reported bug:

1.) Uninstall all firefox-related packages (firefox, mozilla-firefox,
firefox-locale-xx and so on) with dpkg --purge package-name

I then got an error message that the directory /usr/lib/firefox could not be
deleted because it was not empty. I did this manually with:

rm -r /usr/lib/firefox

2.) Reinstall the firefox-package with apt (or dpkg if you like):

apt-get install firefox

3.) I also deleted the ~/.mozilla directory (although I think it was not
necessary)

4.) After restarting firefox as a normal user, the bug was gone.

Also, the reported bug #366213 (tabbed browsing not possible) disappeared
after the steps discribed above.

Now firefox-browsing is fun again ;-)
Thanks for your help.

Rainer.

Bug#366213: mozilla-firefox: tabbed browsing not possible

2006-05-06 Thread Rainer Dohmen
Package: mozilla-firefox
Version: 1.5.dfsg+1.5.0.2-3
Severity: important

I have a serious problem with tabbed browsing:

I can open a new tab by pressing Ctrl + t, the second tab opens
correctly, but when I type in a new URL (in second tab window), it just opens
in the first tab.
When I select a link on a website in the first tab and try to open it
in a new tab from the context-menu, nothing happens.

This problem appeared after upgrading from version 1.0.7, I didn't have
the problem before.

Regards

Rainer

Bug#366214: mozilla-firefox: bookmarks toolbar and bookmarks not visible

2006-05-06 Thread Rainer Dohmen
Package: mozilla-firefox
Version: 1.5.dfsg+1.5.0.2-3
Severity: normal

After upgrading from version 1.0.7 this problem occured with the current
release 1.5.0.2-3.

The bug itself has already been reported at bug #318666 but it there
appeared only in version 1.0.5

Description:

1) The bookmarks toolbar isn't present, although selected in the
view-menu. There's no possibility to make it appear.

2) When I open the bookmarks menu, I cannot see my bookmarks before I
opened the bookmark manager. After closing the manager, the bookmarks
are in the bookarks menu as they should.
This behaviour repeats every time I restart firefox.

Rainer

Bug#366213: mozilla-firefox: tabbed browsing not possible

2006-05-09 Thread Rainer Dohmen
Hello Justin, hi folks,

sorry for my late answer, but I have some more (perhaps interesting) facts
about my firefox problems:

1) Installed extensions:
a) DOM Inspector 1.0 (greyed out because not compatible)
b) Deutsch (DE) Language Pack 1.5.0.1 (greyed out because not
compatible)
c) DOM Inspector 1.8.0.3

2) starting firefox in safe-mode as well as creating a new user doesn't solve
the problem.

3) After upgrading to the new version 1.5.0.3 when I first started firefox
again, there was the following message (which never ever appeared afterwards)

app-global 1.0
app-global 1.5.0.1

The following components are not compatible with the new version of FIrefox
you have just installed.
They have been disabled until compatible versions are installed.
Firefox can check for and install newer, compatible versions of these
components.

Question: How do I get this app-global, and how do I delete the old ones? I
didn't find them in my system, as well as I don't know how to deinstall the
old versions of DOM Inspector and Language Pack. I tried it via the Debian
Packet Management but there are no language packs installed.

4) I also found out that the search option (CTRL + F) doesn't work as well, it
just opens the dialog on bottom of the page, but when I try to do a search
nothing happens.

Thanks for reading and answering my questions.
