Bug#602085: fail2ban doesn't respond well for quick distributed attacks (patch)
02.11.2010 00:11, Yaroslav Halchenko пишет: Hi Renat, On Mon, 01 Nov 2010, Renat Sabitov wrote: After futher investigation I found that all this issue was just my fault of fail2ban misconfiguration. I wrote banaction instead of action and my jail worked as tcp multiport instead of all protocol filter. Hm... I am sorry but I am a bit confused... Is that correct: before you had following situation: iptables-multiport used for banning which did not actually ban the IP, thus you were receiving consecutive 'already banned' (due to banning being ineffective due to misspecified port) and 1 second sleeps after each new ban. The situation was exactly as you wrote :) According to that code review, it seems to remain that fail2ban sleeps for 1 second after each new ban action, which might be undesired if there is a flood of attempts; thus might need an improvement to provide timely banning if illegal attempts are concentrated in time... or am I wrong? It sleeps for 1 second only if __checkBan returns False, which happens if there is no tickets in queue or already banned error occured. There might be protection against flood somewhere else in code, I'm not sure. However there haven't been more overload of fail2ban after correction of jail rule. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? After recent upgrade my system freezes just like described in this bug. For the first I thinked that new nvidia driver was the cause of problem, but after some experiments, described in bug #499541, I found that downgrading to .24 solved my problem. Bug#418524: Acknowledgement (tora: Bad input and output of cyrillic symbols)
This is way to solve problem (tested by myself): from http://www.nabble.com/No-Umlaut-with-tora-t1649798.html by Dandrea Francesco May 19, 2006; There is a bug in Qscintilla with the management of Utf8. I sent a patch to the Qscintilla developer that fixed the problem (it's in Qscintilla CVS I think). It's attached to the mail. If you downolad the Qscintilla source, apply the patch, and compile all, you can then modify the Tora source putting the call this-setUtf8(true); in the constructor of toMarkedText. I have other problems with italian accented letters, (they always appears as a square...), but if you are able to see umlaut maybe it will works for you. Otherwise you have to look to the oracle connection management probably -- Renat Sabitov e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Stack Soft jid: [EMAIL PROTECTED] --- /cygdrive/c/Documents and Settings/so000377/Desktop/qscintilla-1.65-gpl-1.6/qt/qextscintilla.cpp 2005-08-30 20:39:28.0 +0200 +++ qextscintilla.cpp 2006-03-21 14:30:19.013214900 +0100 @@ -2539,16 +2539,14 @@ // Return a position from a line number and an index within the line. long QextScintilla::posFromLineIndex(int line, int index) { - long pos = SendScintilla(SCI_POSITIONFROMLINE,line) + index; - long eol = SendScintilla(SCI_GETLINEENDPOSITION,line); - - if (pos eol) - pos = eol; - +long pos=SendScintilla(SCI_POSITIONFROMLINE,line); +for(int i=0;iindex;i++) + pos=SendScintilla(SCI_POSITIONAFTER,pos); + return pos; } // Return a line number and an index within the line from a position.
