Bug#980539: linux-image-5.9.0-0.bpo.5-armmp-lpae: [PATCH] sun4i-codec: set card->owner to avoid warnings

2021-01-20 Thread Rob J. Epping
Package: src:linux
Version: 5.9.15-1~bpo10+1
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

Dear Maintainer,

When I switched from buster kernel (4.19) to buster-backport kernel
(5.9) I started gerring warning messages like
"WARNING: CPU: 1 PID: 371 at sound/core/init.c:207 snd_card_new+0x364/0x390
[snd]"

These warnings are similar to the report in [1]

Patching sound/soc/sunxi/sun4i-codec.c in a simmilar way as mentioned in
[1] seems to remove the warning.

[1]

Can this be fixed for sun4i as wel?

Bug#960870: linux-image-armmp: please add patch to support fancontrol on Helios4

2020-05-17 Thread Rob J. Epping
Package: linux-image-armmp
Version: 5.5.17-1~bpo10+1
Severity: wishlist

Dear Maintainer,

Please add support for Helios4 fancontrol.

According to helios4 wiki [1] this needs a patch to the kernel because
> Currently Linux gpio-mvebu driver does not allow more than 1 PWM
> under the same gpio bank.

In the same page the required patch was linked from Armbian.
The current link is either [2] or [3]. Neither does apply cleanly
to 5.5.17 though :(

2020-05-13 Thread Rob J. Epping

Dear Maintainer,

Debian allows for other init systems as well, please provide startup
scripts for these too.

Looking at the script /usr/sbin/zramswap, a quick solution could be to
move this script to /ets/init.d

Bug#946869: u-boot: please add support for Helios4 NAS

2019-12-16 Thread Rob J. Epping
Package: u-boot
Severity: wishlist

Dear Maintainer,

Support for the Helios4 NAS is available in u-boot 2019.01+dfsg-1, which
is the version in buster.

The version I've cross-compiled with a modified debian/targets works
flawlessly with Debian installed sd-card images.

A line similar to this will enable Helios4 u-boot.

As the subject says.

The patch in [1] is simple and solves the issue also in the current version.

Would be great when it could be applied on a next update of 240

Let me be the voice of other people who do not need any graphical stuff.
For me personally, I only run headless virtual machines on a headless
server and do not want to install all the additional libraries.

As an example, some people want vim with GTK support and some don't.
So there is a bunch of vim packages available.

I guess what I want put forward is that I like to have a choice here,
similar to vim-nox and vim-gtk.

Bug#839695: 67 X11/GTK related packages on a headless server

2017-01-22 Thread Rob J. Epping
Hi,

qemu 1:2.8+dfsg-1 has hit jessie-backorts.

With the fix for bug #839695 my server now wants to install 67 X11/GTK
related new packages. This is on a headless server where this is just
more atack surface, i.e. less security.

Would it be possible to make the X11/GTK stuff optional? Maybe by
creating 2 binary versions for example a -gtk and a -nox version.

GRTNX,
RobJE

Bug#735254: flash-kernel: QNAP TS-212 doesn't boot with 3.12-1-kirkwood and flash-kernel 3.12

2014-01-14 Thread Rob J. Epping
Package: src:linux
Followup-For: Bug #735254

I can confirm this issue on a TS-219.
Adding DTB-Append-From: 3.12 and DTB-Id: kirkwood-ts219-6281.dtb in the
apropriate place in all.db solves the issue parially and maybe only for a
TS-219 (with Soc: 88F6281)

reflashing with kernel 3.12 fails because machine name has changed in
device-tree.

Bug#612366: rancid 2.3.6 is available.

2011-02-07 Thread Rob J. Epping
Package: rancid
Severity: wishlist

Hi

I updated my rancid system to squeeze today and found that rancid
2.3.3 has major issues with HP Procurve devices and minor issues with
fortigate and mrv devices.
I found that rancid 2.3.6 is available from shrubbery.

I downloaded the tar and patched it with the 2.3.3.-1.diff.gz.
After that only the following small changes where needed to build 2.3.6 .deb's:
* 2.3.6 has xrrancid so 10_iosxr.dpatch can be removed
* as xrrancid is included manpage router.db.5 mentiones it ie small
update of 05_man_fixup.dpatch
* nrancid ---more--- prompt has been fixed in 2.3.6 so
07_nrancid_bs_paging.dpatch can be stripped to + 1 while
s/[^[:cntrl:]]\cH//g;

After building this version all my problems are gone.
Please package 2.3.6 for Debian.

THNX!

Bug#522583: Bug #522583: fping broken on some arm systems?

2010-11-19 Thread Rob J. Epping
Hi,

 epp...@qnap:~$ dpkg -s fping | grep Version
 Version: 2.4b2-to-ipv6-15

Please note that you initially reported this with -16, and the other
report happened with -16.1. I believe -16 fixed much in this area,
so reports about -15 aren't unfortunately very useful.

As I said earlier, -16.1 can be installed on a lenny system without any
dependency problems, and that's what the other reporter did.

No other broken system reported yet with -16.1 AFAICS. Still weird.

installed -16.1 (I was to fast yesterday) and the problem has gone.

Could a few armel users please install fping 2.4b2-to-ipv6-16.1 from
