Bug#486936: vlc: xvid playback broken no suitable decoder module
Package: vlc Version: 0.8.6.e-2.3+b1 Severity: normal After re-installing my debian system, I noticed that the latest VLC packages in unstable are not working properly with XVID. [0557] main decoder error: no suitable decoder module for fourcc `XVID'. VLC probably does not support this sound or video format. Downgrading to 0.8.6.c-6 solves this issue. Bug#468745: linux-image-2.6.24-1-686: new with 2.6.24: rtc operations seem to fail on asus p5ld2/pentium d 830
Package: linux-image-2.6.24-1-686 Version: 2.6.24-4 Severity: normal A few days ago I started using the new packages for 2.6.24 in sid and it seems all rtc access to my system is being timed out. On boot, the setting system to rtc fails. On shutdown, the rtc sync also fails. I don't know where to start looking for the problem, perhaps you could give me a few tests to run? My clock also seems to be acting oddly, I use NTP/NTPclient so I have the right time except sometimes it seems to skip ahead by 2s. Bug#423951: libcairo2: cairo crashes on multiple apps: cairo_destroy: Assertion `cr-ref_count 0' failed.
Package: libcairo2 Version: 1.4.6-1 Severity: normal Cairo lately has been seeming to crash on multiple applications, most notably a python application using pygtk and gimp. Using gimp as example, the error I am given is: gimp: /home/dajobe/dev/debian/cairo/libcairo-1.4.6/src/cairo.c:261: cairo_destroy: Assertion `cr-ref_count 0' failed. gimp: terminated: Aborted (script-fu:4289): LibGimpBase-WARNING **: script-fu: wire_read(): error This is when I choose the color selector window for the foreground color.. The pygtk application crashes with the same line. I don't know what exactly is triggering this, but my buddy using nearly the same setup doesn't have this problem. I am using debian/sid with a compiled murrine 0.53 gtk engine, with a fairly simple theme. I have noticed that this crash doesn't happen with a pixmap theme, though, very odd. My buddy using a compiled murrine 0.53 also, but does not have this crash. Hope this helps. I have also tried kernel 2.6.18-4-686 just for kicks, no bearing in the kernel I am using it seems. -r -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.21-ck2 (SMP w/2 CPU cores; PREEMPT) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages libcairo2 depends on: ii libc6 2.5-7 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libfontconfig12.4.2-1.2 generic font configuration library ii libfreetype6 2.2.1-5FreeType 2 font engine, shared lib ii libpng12-01.2.15~beta5-1 PNG library - runtime ii libx11-6 2:1.0.3-7 X11 client-side library ii libxrender1 1:0.9.2-1 X Rendering Extension client libra ii zlib1g1:1.2.3-14 compression library - runtime libcairo2 recommends no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#423588: pidgin doesn't show status text to other AIM clients
On Sun, 2007-05-13 at 00:31 -0400, Ari Pollak wrote: I don't understand this bug report. What is Pidgin's status window? If other programs are accessing Gaim's status system through DBus or a plugin, it's not going to magically work with Pidgin without any changes. If a music player needs to be updated to add Pidgin support, then that needs to be taken up with said music player. Sorry, bad wording.. Not window, but the little box of text that comes up at the bottom of the Pidgin window with text in it when an application puts a status text to Pidgin.. I am using Exaile SVN with Pidgin support in the status plugin, the text shows up at the bottom of the Pidgin user list window yet nobody on AIM can see it .. it should show up below my name in their list. I have not tested other IM services. This works however on the old GAIM, where it does the same thing but people can see it. I hope this explains better. If not, then please ignore this request.. Because I cannot find another way to explain it, I do not know the exact wording. Thanks. I thought your quote that's what you get for running experimental wasn't that helpful also. We are people who are testing the software.. No, I do not think updating a bug # is such a crime. So, I give a heads up just bumping the bug # up now, I say 1 LINE, and I get this return? Give me a break dude. I have reinstalled in the time since we talked, and now I am running sid i386. Funny thing is, at least with my hardware, digikam doesn't even show the image on i386 :) In good news, this -4 patch works in i386, where -3 does not show an image in i386 either.. So, I cannot confirm this patch will work on amd64 but at least in i386, which had the same problem for me, it is fixed. Uhm, that's bad! dcraw is only necessary for RAW images, not jpegs. We had a similar problem with PPC. Bug#325078: new flac release breaks decoding on many files
Package: flac Version: 1.1.2-2 Severity: important With this version of flac, it fails decoding on some files and loops with some odd operation I catched in an strace. Out of one set I have (I collect live sets of shows in flac) about 3 of the files, after decoding with flac -d filename.flac it seems the cursor in the terminal resets to the top left and it just loops from there with this output from strace: ...cont... write(2, \10, ) = 1 write(2, \10, ) = 1 write(2, \10, ) = 1 write(2, \10, ) = 1 ...cont... As far as I know there's nothing wrong with these files and this only seemed to start happening about a version or two ago, because I just got to this set to process and I noticed this. This also happens on many different sets of mine, rendering this flac version pretty unusable.
