Bug#511282: retchmail: all numeric email address left of @ causes sporadic hanging 90% of time

2009-01-08 Thread Scott Fitzgerald
Package: retchmail
Version: 1:1.1
Severity: important

When using an all-numeric email address list
84...@privatedomain.com@privatedomain.com:995, the instance of
retchmail hangs about 90% of the time.

This format of email address is for shared budget webhosting. The
username for the pop login for this example would be
84...@privatedomain.com.

Using a normal email address, something like
b...@privatedomain.com@privatedomain.com:995 has no bad effects.

Thank you,

Comments/Problems:

Network Hardware, my motherboard comes in two models, one has both the NV
Marvell onboard GB lan and the Broadcom GB lan, and one model (the one I
have) has only the NV lan. The installer picks up a non-existent second
lan on my motherboard, and links it to eth0. I knew enough to choose
eth1, but I am concerned that more novice Debian users might have problems
here.

I maintain several computers in two homes, so I keep a mirror of the debian
mirror at MIT.edu as a filesystem and copy that from computer to computer,
then I install from the filesystem. I find this practice saves MIT.edu
bandwidth (I only update one copy) and saves me time (a disk partition is
faster that a DSL modem.) I was very upset that there was no way to install
from the file system, or at least there was no obvious way of doing it (I am
discussing a filesystem that I installed via a boot-cd to a large partition
before installing debian on the same disk.) Looks like I could access an
intranet lan to do this, but I do not have one set up. Being able to do this
would be a great wishlist item for people responsible for multiple PC's.

Thank You
