Bug#1007725: Info received (Bug#1007725: linux-image-5.16.0-4-amd64: Intel Alder Lake-P audio device not detected correctly)
Debian Testing / Bookworm now has firmware-sof-signed (2.1.1-1) and this appears to now be resolved, both audio speakers work as expected, please can this be marked as resolved. Just to confirm, 5.17 (and its later packages) is now in Bookworrm repos, checked on an install today and still this firmware appears to be missing. Bug#1007725: linux-image-5.16.0-4-amd64: Intel Alder Lake-P audio device not detected correctly
updated to kernel 5.17rc8 (needed for another bug I raised) and downloaded version 1.9.3 of intel-signed sof-adl.ri from the SOF Project ( https://github.com/thesofproject). The sound is now recognised, I can hear audio - when "test right" is played no audio is observed, when "tet left" is selected both speaks appear to work - so its working, but not quite. Who is responsible for packaging the firmware-sof-signed package? looks like it needs updating.

Bug#864600: linux-image-4.9.0-3-amd64: Audio not audible on Intel Corporation C610/X99 series
Package: src:linux Version: 4.9.30-1 Severity: normal Tags: upstream Dear Maintainer, on a fresh Stretch install on a Alienware Area 51 R2 audio is not working from the built in sound card. If I increase settings to max aidio is very very faintly heard, but below whisper levels. I have tweaked levels with alsamixer and the system is able to detect headphone add/remove and line out add/remove so it seems to be semi operational, however try as I might I cannot get audio to play.
