Bug#951625: kde: Switch Displays not working
Package: kde Version: kde-plasma-desktop Severity: normal Dear Maintainer, I am using KDE on a Debian mixed testing/buster system. Until recently, plugging / unplugging the HDMI cable, or pressing Fn+F8(display) on my laptop keyboard, would pop up the switch displays pop up and allow me to choose how to use an external monitor. Recently this has stopped happening. Instead Debian assumes that i want to stretch the display across both monitors (which is not what I want to do). I have to force mirroring of displays using 'xrandr' in my .profile, choose my external monitor as the Primary Screen from Displays, and then manually restart plasmashell in order to get a full desktop. The shortcut combination in Global Shortcuts (Meta+P) also has no effect. I tried changing the shortcut to another combination, still no effect. Bug#916844: purity: Purity looks in the wrong place for tests specified without full path
Package: purity Version: 1-19 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, Attempting to run purity tests in the more traditional way ("purity list"; "purity nerd"; &c) fails with the unhelpful "error opening datafile '$test'" (for any given $test). Bug#861967: get-iplayer: Getting indices, among other things, thoroughly broken
Package: get-iplayer Version: 2.97-1 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, Auntie has broken get-iplayer again, a couple of times since the latest packaged release, actually. As things stand, it can no longer download indices or programme metadata. This could be fixed by packaging version 3.01, which at the time of report is the latest version. Note that upstream warns that get_iplayer is getting increasingly fragile, and more frequent updates are likely. The breakage has a major impact on get-iplayer's usability; the PVR feature is entirely broken, as is searching for programmes, and even downloading by URL no longer provides metadata with which to name files. -- System Information: Debian Release: 9.0 APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing'), (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'stable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 4.9.0-2-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_GB.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=UTF-8) (ignored: LC_ALL set to en_GB.UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) Versions of packages get-iplayer depends on: ii ffmpeg 7:3.2.4-1 ii libwww-perl 6.15-1 ii libxml-simple-perl 2.22-1 pn perl:any ii rtmpdump2.4+20151223.gitfa8646d.1-1+b1 Versions of packages get-iplayer recommends: ii atomicparsley 0.9.6-1+b1 ii id3v2 0.1.12-2.1+b2 ii libmp3-info-perl1.24-1.2 ii libxml-libxml-perl 2.0128+dfsg-1+b1 get-iplayer suggests no packages. -- no debconf information

Bug#810714: upower: CriticalPowerAction respects systemd inhibitors
Package: upower Version: 0.99.3-1+b2 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer, * What led up to the situation? Running a laptop on battery with the GNOME Shell extension "Caffeine" active and a fullscreen application running. * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)? Continued using the computer without seeing any low-battery alerts due to aforementioned fullscreen applications. * What was the outcome of this action? Computer continued to run until battery was well below the "critical" threshold, then shut down. * What outcome did you expect instead? The machine should respect UPower's CriticalPowerAction (which in this case is set to the default HybridSleep). * Additional Notes I have confirmed that Caffeine is the trigger for this behaviour: With no full-screen applications running and Caffeine not manually activated, the same computer correctly enters hybrid sleep on critical battery. It is fully able to resume in that case, as well as if sleep (hybrid or plain) or hibernate is activated manually, so that is not the issue. Presumably, however, any other inhibitor would result in the same behaviour. Were it not for Caffeine's default behaviour of inhibiting suspend and lock automatically when an application is fullscreen, this would not be such a problem, but a fullscreen application will also mask any low-battery warnings, so (without some kind of hardware alert, the way some laptops start beeping at low power) the shutdown will come without warning and without the ease of resume provided by suspend, hibernate, or hybrid sleep. -- System Information: Debian Release: stretch/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing'), (500, 'stable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 4.3.0-1-amd64 (SMP w/8 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_GB.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=UTF-8) (ignored: LC_ALL set to en_GB.UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) Versions of packages upower depends on: ii dbus 1.10.6-1 ii libc6 2.21-6 ii libdbus-1-31.10.6-1 ii libdbus-glib-1-2 0.102-1 ii libglib2.0-0 2.46.2-3 ii libgudev-1.0-0 230-2 ii libimobiledevice4 1.1.6+dfsg-3.1+b1 ii libplist3 1.12-3.1 ii libupower-glib30.99.3-1+b2 ii libusb-1.0-0 2:1.0.20-1 ii udev 228-2+b1 Versions of packages upower recommends: ii policykit-1 0.105-14 upower suggests no packages. -- no debconf information

Bug#761822: gnome-online-accounts: Evolution Google-calendar support requires extra package
Package: gnome-online-accounts Version: 3.12.4-1 Severity: normal Gnome-online-accounts appears, by default, to set up a Google account to have its calendar displayed in Evolution. However, on a fresh install, when one tries to open a GOA Google calendar, Evolution times out. This happens until the user installs the evolution-webcal package, but the need to do so is not noted anywhere. Either GOA should hide the "enable calendar" option for Google accounts if evolution-webcal is not installed, or it should depend on - or at least Recommend - evolution-webcal. This is presumably /also/ a bug in Evolution, in that Evolution shows the possibility of connecting to a Google Calendar when it doesn't have the required plugin to do so, and that its error message is inaccurate. To summarise: Expected outcome: freshly-configured google account on new install has calendar shown in Evolution Actual outcome: calendar is listed but appears to time out rather than fetch events. Steps to reproduce: remove evolution-webcal if installed (noting that this causes no dependency issues), configure a Google Account through GOA, observe that the GOA calendar in Evolution appears to time out. Steps to work around: install evolution-webcal and notice that Google Calendars immediately work in Evolution. -- System Information: Debian Release: jessie/sid APT prefers testing-updates APT policy: (500, 'testing-updates'), (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (500, 'stable'), (500, 'oldstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 3.16-1-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_GB.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=UTF-8) (ignored: LC_ALL set to en_GB.UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages gnome-online-accounts depends on: ii libc6 2.19-11 ii libgcr-base-3-1 3.12.2-1 ii libglib2.0-0 2.40.0-5 ii libgoa-1.0-0b 3.12.4-1 ii libgoa-backend-1.0-1 3.12.4-1 ii libkrb5-3 1.12.1+dfsg-9 ii librest-0.7-0 0.7.92-1 ii libsoup2.4-1 2.46.0-2 ii libtelepathy-glib00.24.0-1 Versions of packages gnome-online-accounts recommends: ii gnome-control-center 1:3.12.1-5 ii realmd0.15.1-1+b1 gnome-online-accounts suggests no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#749583: dwb: suddenly fails to allow entry of url into minibuffer
Package: dwb Version: 20140415hg-1 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer, * What led up to the situation? Normal use of dwb in Debian wheezy system. * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)? I am not able to find any specific combination of circumstances that leads up to this event, but it happens every time I use dwb. The event is triggered by pressing the shortcut for "open URL" or "tabopen URL" (i.e. 'o', 'O', or, in my system, 't' for tabopen) * What was the outcome of this action? Dwb does not allow me to enter the URL in the minibuffer (as it normally does). Instead every character pressed after that is treated as a command shortcut. * What outcome did you expect instead? For instance, if I type 'o www.google.com' I would expect to see 'open: www.google.com' in the buffer and then be able to press Enter to go to www.google.com. What happens instead is that dwb starts trying to execute 'winopen' and so on, as if 'w' was entered as a command keyword. Fixed - appears bug was in libwebkitgtk-3.0-0 and not in dwb, apologies. As Nathan suggested, upgrade of libwebkitgtk-3.0-0 to 2.4.1-2 fixed the problem. Bug#747757: (no subject)
I deleted the session file in .config/dwb/default/ . If I then open a tiddlywiki file and then wikipedia, and try to do tabopen www.google.com, I get the same as above. The full error message is (sorry, missed the second line earlier): pure virtual method called terminate called without an active exception My settings file is attached for reference as well. settings Description: Binary data

These are the xfce processes that are running as per ps -e: xfce4-session xfce4-panel xfce4-mixer-plu After seeing your comment I tried starting xfce4-settings-helper manually. Shortcuts started working. I also switched it on in the autostart settings as well, and the first time I logged out and back in, shortcuts were working. The second time however they stopped working again. In the autostart settings, I found that the settings helper checkbox had been cleared again for no reason. Setting it on again led to the same cycle (works on first following login, not after that). > Well, you'll have to be more specific, because shortcuts do work. Er, not sure how to respond. Could you give me an idea of what kind of information would be useful? I don't know much about XFCE's design, so have no clue what to look for. As said the history of the problem is as follows: * I was using 4.6. Shortcuts were working fine. At some point, for no apparent reason, they simply stopped working. * I looked up the bug report referred to in my initial email. I followed the fix instructions there. That worked in 4.6. * I upgraded to 4.8.0.2 from the testing repository. The fix stopped working. In ~/.config/autostart/ the xfce4-settings-helper-autostart.desktop file, whose removal was the supposed fix, keeps getting recreated. * And finally no shortcuts set in XFCE's "keyboard" settings section work. Bug#645165: problem persists after upgrade
Hi, just to add that I just upgraded to 4.8.0.3, and the problem persists. Also, to clarify: I am submitting this bug to you all in Debian because, from that XFCE bug report, it appears that this was supposedly fixed upstream. So it seems like it might be a Debian problem. And, finally, thank you for all the work you do. I forgot to say that as well :). Shankar -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#645165: xfce4: Keyboard shortcuts not working
Package: xfce4 Version: 4.8.0.2 Severity: normal I was earlier using XFCE 4.6 when my keyboard shortcuts suddenly stopped working. This bug report https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5639 in the XFCE bugzilla discusses this bug, suggests a fix for it and states that the problem has been resolved in 4.7 onwards. The fix worked for me in 4.6. However, once I have upgraded to 4.8 from the testing repositories, the bug remains and the fix no longer works. In fact, every time I rename the file xfce4-settings-helper-autostart.desktop as suggested, it gets recreated in my ~/.config/autostart directory. Bug#644638: uzbl-tabbed "freezes" on entry of blank URI in "NEW_TAB %s" event handler
Package: uzbl Version: 0.0.0~git.20100403-3 Severity: normal File: /usr/bin/uzbl-tabbed Tags: upstream I am experimenting with uzbl, which seems like a very nice piece of software. However, when I am using uzbl-tabbed, entering the key combination "go" - which in the default config should trigger a "NEW_TAB %s" - there's a problem. I've put "freezes" in quotes above as the issue is basically that uzbl-tabbed seems to ignore key input for an extended period of time (almost a minute at least). The program remains responsive in the sense that tabs can be clicked on (I have set show_gtk_tabs to on) and these will be switched to. However, these tabs also will not accept commands. After a long period of time, things become responsive again. I can add that I managed to get it working again by inserting a space before all invocations of "${goto }". Bug#616531: conky: crashing with "goto needs arguments" error
Package: conky Version: 1.8.0-1 Severity: important I am using conky on a Debian Squeeze system, running from a live image in persistent mode. The WM is XFCE and my .conkyrc is attached. I have been using conky without any difficulties for some weeks now. Today, as I was using the system, I suddenly noticed that the conky display had disappeared except for a few characters at the extreme right. When I looked in my terminal (conky was running from a terminal) I found it had crashed with a "goto needs arguments" error. The same error keeps returning when I try to restart it. As far as I can tell all the gotos in my .conkyrc have arguments. Most of the conky output I use consists of the output of a modified version of the todo.txt script. I've had no trouble with this so far, and made no recent modification to my .conkyrc (i.e. not in the past three days). Any idea what else might be going on? Perhaps this is not a slim bug at all, but something wrong with the way live-helper is configuring the Live system.
Bug#613024: slim: authentication failure when installed on raw Xorg
Package: slim Version: 1.3.1-8 Severity: important I am using slim on a fresh Debian Squeeze install. The install in question is a Debian Live CD image created with the "standard-x11" package list and running in persistent mode (this should make it equivalent to a standard Squeeze install with just Xorg, no DE / WM installed). I installed xfce4 package and then installed the slim package. I then do sudo init 1 followed by sudo init 5 to restart the X server (or, alternatively, restart the computer). Slim comes up and I am able to login normally. The first program I open runs. Every program after that fails with an MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE error. "xhosts +" reports "cannot open display :0.0". To avoid this and get a working X configuration, I disabled slim by running "sudo insserv -r slim." X runs fine after that without a display manager. Have not tried other display managers so am not sure if this error occurs in them as well. -- System Information: Debian Release: 6.0 APT prefers stable APT policy: (700, 'stable'), (600, 'unstable'), (500, 'squeeze-updates') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.32-5-486 Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages slim depends on: ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.5.36.1 Debian configuration management sy ii libc6 2.11.2-10 Embedded GNU C Library: Shared lib ii libgcc1 1:4.4.5-8 GCC support library ii libjpeg62 6b1-1 The Independent JPEG Group's JPEG ii libpam0g 1.1.1-6.1 Pluggable Authentication Modules l ii libpng12-01.2.44-1 PNG library - runtime ii libstdc++64.4.5-8The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii libx11-6 2:1.3.3-4 X11 client-side library ii libxft2 2.1.14-2 FreeType-based font drawing librar ii libxmu6 2:1.0.5-2 X11 miscellaneous utility library Versions of packages slim recommends: ii xterm 261-1 X terminal emulator Versions of packages slim suggests: pn scrot (no description available) -- Configuration Files: /etc/slim.conf changed: default_path/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/local/games:/usr/games default_xserver /usr/bin/X11/X xserver_arguments -nolisten tcp halt_cmd/sbin/shutdown -h now reboot_cmd /sbin/shutdown -r now console_cmd /usr/bin/xterm -C -fg white -bg black +sb -T "Console login" -e /bin/sh -c "/bin/cat /etc/issue.net; exec /bin/login" xauth_path /usr/bin/X11/xauth authfile /var/run/slim.auth login_cmd exec /bin/bash -login /etc/X11/Xsession %session sessions default,startxfce4,openbox,ion3,icewm,wmaker,blackbox,awesome screenshot_cmd scrot /root/slim.png welcome_msg Welcome to %host shutdown_msg The system is halting... reboot_msg The system is rebooting... default_user user auto_login yes current_theme debian-spacefun lockfile/var/run/slim.lock logfile /var/log/slim.log -- debconf information: * shared/default-x-display-manager: slim -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
