Bug#991381: darktable: camera not showing in lens correction list and not recognised but is supported

2021-07-22 Thread Stas Zytkiewicz
Package: darktable
Version: 3.6.0-1.1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

I have a Canon 800D.
When I open a RAW image in darkroom the lens correction always fails to detect
the camera. It will recognize the lens but not the camera. It tells me to add
it manually.
But the list with Canon cameras doesn't show a 800D/Rebel T7i.
Looking in /usr/share/darktable/rawspeed/cameras.xml I see that the 800D is
supported (also the 80D is in the xml but not in the list)
I have double checked that the exif data displays the correct camera type and
the firmware in the camera is up to date.
Not sure why multiple cameras that are inside the xml file don't show up in the
"manual add" camera list?

This is the out put of the exiftool:
exiftool IMG_1638.CR2 | grep -i "camera.*name"
Camera Model Name : Canon EOS 800D

The fix is to add the dependency for liblensfun-bin which contains the
lensfun-update-data tool.
Then run the lensfun-update-data to update the lensfun dbase with all the
supported cameras.

Bug#758839: contains non-free data

2014-09-05 Thread Stas Zytkiewicz

wrote:

Package: childsplay
Version: 2.6.2-1
Severity: serious

Hi!

I just installed childsplay and checked it out because I want to include
it in the Debian Junior tasks. (Debian Junior is a pure blend targeting
kids and youth.)

When I tested a few applications in the menu I realized that there are
some non-free data in the package.

Hi, my name is Stas Zytkiewicz and I'm the author of childsplay.

Thank you reporting these issues.
In the new 2.6.2 release I've made the following changes.

My quickly formed tentative list:

* An image of Vault Boy from the Fallout games, which are very nice
  but nontheless non-free

/usr/share/childsplay/CPData/good_en.png
/usr/share/childsplay/CPData/thumbs.png
/usr/share/childsplay/CPData/thumbsup.png

The thumbsup image is replaced with an image from openclipart.org.
good_en.png is a copy of thumbsup.png and thumbs.png is no longer present
in the latest and prior release.

* Sounds from the pacman inspired game are from the rock n' roll classic
I Feel Good by James Brown
/usr/share/childsplay/CPData/PackidData/feelgood.ogg

It's replaced with a free sample from the freebies section of
http://www.samplephonics.com

and are also probably sampled from Pacman
/usr/share/childsplay/CPData/PackidData/waka.wav
/usr/share/childsplay/CPData/PackidData/walk.wav

Not true, it's of course inspired by the pacman sound but the length of
the 'waka'
is 0.17 seconds and the length of the 'walk' is 0.08 second and are
sound effects.
It's not the original pacman sound and I'm surprised that someone would
think those

very tiny sounds files could be the original pacman sounds.

* A sound from The Simpsons, where Homer shouts wohoo. Classic sound
 byte, but non-free

/usr/share/childsplay/CPData/wahoo.wav

Not true, it's an recording of *me* shouting wohoo and then altered a bit
with audacity filters.

The copyright file states that these files should be GPL-3+, but that is
surely not the case.

Note that I have not made a detailed license analysis of the entire package
contents and that there might be more non-free data.

Perhaps, but it's an illusion to think one can check every image or sound
in this day and age where images and sounds are copied and distributed
numerous times on the internet.

Either remove the data, or, better, replace it with free images and
samples.

The fix is to add the two following lines to /etc/modprobe.d/alsabase.conf
 options snd-hda-intel model=hp-dv5
 options snd-hda-intel enable_msi=1

And the sound works perfectly :-)

Can you test with just options snd-hda-intel model=hp-dv5?
Sound on 2.6.32-5-686 works with only that option added to the default
alsabase.conf

Also please test Linux 2.6.36 as packaged in experimental.
Sound works without the options snd-hda-intel model=hp-dv5.
But I noticed when booting that alsactrl don't recognized the hardware and
would use a guessing method
It probably guessed right.

Finally, can you state which model of computer this is?

Why would one want this library instead of a generic IMAP library?
Most libgmail users are 'powerusers', not developers who want to dive
into IMAP.

It will be the replacement for libgmail: not all libgmail developers
out there want to rewrite their programs from scratch, so a new,
backward-compatible libgmail based on IMAP does make sense IMHO.
Libgmail has to much problems so something has to change and libgmail
was great when Gmail was only webbased but now there are better ways.
