Bug#1059263: emptty: Automatic login fails with default PAM configuration

2023-12-22 Thread Tamas K. Papp
Package: emptty
Version: 0.10.0+git20230608.f02bbdb-1+b4
Severity: normal
X-Debbugs-Cc: tkp...@gmail.com

Dear Maintainer,

As configured in the package, automatic login (AUTOLOGIN=true) fails
with "Authentication failure".

The following fixes the problem:

1. Using the PAM configuration recommended for Debian, available at
https://github.com/tvrzna/emptty/blob/master/res/pam-debian

2. Adding the user to the nopasswdlogin group (as described in the
README of emptty).

Suggested fix:

1. replace the PAM file in the package with the one above,

2. have README.Debian mention that the user should create the
nopasswdlogin group and then add the autologin user.

It would be nice if the user could enter any magnification instead of

Hi Muhammar,

Apparently yacas-proteus is a leftover from an earlier distro then. I
have to admit that I haven't used it for a while.

Maybe you could make the current yacas conflict yacas-proteus, so it
would be automatically removed when users upgrade to sid?

I removed all packaged that included this directory and it
disappeared, I didn't have to remove it manually.

The file exists:

no, it doesn't same error message. Could this be a path problem
somewhere? I unset my $TEXINPUTS but it still persists.

Thanks,

Bug#411802: grun: The icon is ugly

2007-02-20 Thread Tamas K Papp
Package: grun
Version: 0.9.2-14
Severity: wishlist

The icon (/usr/share/pixmaps/grun.xpm) is pretty ugly (of course,
that's subjective) and what's worse, it is pretty difficult to
associate it with what grun does (that's more objective, but YMMV).
Gnome has beautiful icons, and this one shouldn't be an exception.

Bug#400382: ess: options(error=recover) in R confuses ESS

2006-11-25 Thread Tamas K Papp
Package: ess
Version: 5.3.0-1
Severity: normal

To reproduce the bug, do the following:

1. open an R session inside emacs (M-x R)
2. type the command options(error=recover) (changes handling of errors)
3. type, for example, ?help

No help window will appear, ESS will seem to be busy. Issuing Ctrl-G,
I get back to the ESS session.

4. typing ?help again, I get a help page with the formatting garbled,
eg (this might appear correct in your terminal with the words
underlined, but it should be plain text inside Emacs):

Bug#353453: gnome-panel: When using Mathematica-5.1 from remote server, wnck-applet causes heavy CPU load

2006-02-18 Thread Tamas K Papp
Package: gnome-panel
Version: 2.12.2-3
Severity: normal

I am using Mathematica-5.1 from a remote machine (via ssh -Y). When I
start the client program on the remote machine, it works nicely using
my X server, but wnck-applet grabs almost 100% of the CPU. Just to
clarify: the only remote application is mathematica, everything else,
including wnck-applet, runs on my desktop.

killall wnck-applet solves the problem (dialogs for restarting Show
Desktop, Windows List and Window Selector appear and I reload all
three) and wnck-applet behaves well from then on.

This problem does not appear with other remote applications (I tested
xclock, xcalc and they don't cause any problems).

.xsession-errors shows:

Severity: normal

if the file above is not removed from the cron.d, the cron daemon will
send error messages like

/bin/sh: /usr/sbin/pg_maintenance: No such file or directory

Purging the package of course fixes the problem, but plain remove
should also delete this file.

When typing open from an X terminal (as a normal user), colors/pixels
get messed up on the screen, I get a halo of random pixels around
characters and just about everything. The system remains usable
though, and logoff & logon from gdm fixes things.
