I can (alas) also confirm this bug.

Having a fully encrypted home and using libpam-encfs to do the mount
operation at login time, I am not able to do a login with pam-encfs
enabled since the libfuse2 upgrade to 2.8.4-1.1.

With the last version (2.8.4-1.1) I can mount the encrypted fs with "-o
allow_other,nonempty", both with root and normal user.
To be able to do that, I had to 'fusermount -u' the mountpoint after the
terminated pam-encfs attempt or enfs would just hang there trying to
mount the fs. Also, any call to lsof or ls in the folder containing the
mountpoint would hang and need to be killed if the mountpoint is not
"cleaned".

I didn't try to downgrade the package.
