Bug#1035101: Failed to detect HD if Intel RST-RAID is active
OK, great! I've just rebuilt an amd64 netinst image, bundling the extra module inside (/lib/modules/6.1.0-7-amd64/kernel/drivers/platform/x86/intel/intel-rst.ko) and I've verified that this module loads fine in a VM. Hi, I made an installation test, but no change. In the shell of the installer lsmod does not list intel-rst as loaded. I think that there is more necessary than just providing the module. Don't know what the Ubuntu installer does. At least a hint in the installation guide would be nice to switch off the RST RAID mode in the BIOS if the HDD is not detected.
Bug#1035101: Failed to detect HD if Intel RST-RAID is active
Apparently we have that option enabled in the regular linux package: debian/config/kernelarch-x86/config:CONFIG_INTEL_RST=m but the relevant module isn't shipped in any udebs: /lib/modules//kernel/drivers/platform/x86/intel/intel-rst.ko Would you be willing to test an unofficial amd64 netinst image that would ship that extra module, to see if the installer (1) sees the disk and (2) can do something with it? Hi, I am able to do one test...

Bug#730824: initscripts: please document INIT_VERBOSE in /etc/default/rcS (and/or rcS (5) )

But I'd ask, whether INIT_VERBOSE > variable is actually needed. > > We have $VERBOSE variable, that defaults to "yes", can be set in > /etc/default/rcS and may be modified according to kernel option. And > also we have $INIT_VERBOSE, that overrides $VERBOSE independent of > kernel option. > > Isn't it is too much complexity for such simple thing? Why would anyone > desire non-verbose boot? Yes, it is very complex. I don't want to see regular kernel messages, only irregular. So I use the "quiet" parameter. While debugging enormous shutdown delays I found the solution with INIT_VERBOSE even if it was not documented and only deep buried in /lib/init/vars.sh. The point for this bug report was to just document this variable.

Bug#839575: Tinyca is incompatible with openssl 1.1 and some 1.0.2 versions
Edit: The working openssl-version 1.02g-2 was not from jessie-backports. It was from an older stretch version. Now I tried the current version 1.0.2k-1~bpo8+1 from jessie-backports: Tinyca hangs with this version, too - when creating a CA. openssl version 1.0.1t-1+deb8u6 works as expected...
Bug#839575: Tinyca is incompatible with openssl 1.1
severity 839575 serious thanks I digged a bit deeper. Tinyca 0.7.5-5 worked for me in Jessie. So I tried 0.7.5-6 there. It worked, too! After updating openssl from 1.0.2g-2 (jessie-backports) to 1.1.0e-1 (stretch) tinyca stopped working! The last thing what happened when creating a CA is a messagebox saying that the RSA key will be produced (in german: "Die Erstellung des RSA Schlüssels läuft...") but after a while the slider stopped moving and the messages mentioned by Richard appeared in the console window. Tinyca should be fixed or removed from stretch.
Bug#839575: Maybe tinyca is incompatible with openssl 1.x

I now added the line dns-nameservers 192.168.0.2 192.168.0.1 to /etc/network/interfaces and name resolution works again (not only for nslookup). Package: scanbuttond Version: 0.2.3-6 Severity: important I tried to run scanbuttond from udev by appending , RUN+=/usr/bin/scanbuttond to a rule in /etc/udev/libsane.rules. But the program segfaults because the environment variable PATH is not set. I attached a patch which corrects the problem. -- System Information: Debian Release: 4.0 APT prefers stable APT policy: (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.24.7 Locale: [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED] (charmap=ISO-8859-15) (ignored: LC_ALL set to [EMAIL PROTECTED]) Versions of packages scanbuttond depends on: ii libc6 2.3.6.ds1-13etch5 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libsane1.0.18-5 API library for scanners ii libusb-0.1-4 2:0.1.12-5userspace USB programming library Versions of packages scanbuttond recommends: ii sane-utils1.0.18-5 API library for scanners -- utilit -- no debconf information --- scanbuttond.c.orig 2008-06-03 22:11:00.0 +0200 +++ scanbuttond.c 2008-06-03 22:11:21.0 +0200 @@ -268,13 +268,23 @@ int main(int argc, char** argv) // setup the environment char* oldpath = getenv(PATH); + if (oldpath == NULL) { + oldpath = ; + } char* dir = dirname(argv[0]); path = (char*)malloc(strlen(oldpath) + strlen(dir) + 1); - strcpy(path, oldpath); - strcat(path, :); - strcat(path, dir); - setenv(PATH, path, 1); - free(path); + if (path) { + if (strlen(oldpath)) { + strcpy(path, oldpath); + strcat(path, :); + } + else { + path[0] = 0; + } + strcat(path, dir); + setenv(PATH, path, 1); + free(path); + } syslog(LOG_DEBUG, running scanner initialization script...); execute_and_wait(initscanner_script);
