Bug#1002704: libsane1: libsane does not look for drivers in /usr/lib/sane anymore
Package: libsane1 Version: 1.0.32-4 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer, the Samsung SMFP scanner driver package installs files in /usr/lib/sane. This worked totally fine for many years with libsane1 but version 1.32 stopped looking for drivers in this directory so the scanner does not work properly. Output of scanimage -L before V1.32: device `smfp:usb;04e8;3419;0123456789ABCDEF' is a SAMSUNG SCX-4x21 Series on USB Scanner device `xerox_mfp:libusb:003:002' is a SAMSUNG ORION multi-function peripheral and now with V1.32: device `xerox_mfp:libusb:003:002' is a SAMSUNG ORION multi-function peripheral This ORION device is a generic driver delivered with debian and does not work properly. The SCX-4x21 is the custom installed driver which works fine. As a quick fix I did a soft link /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/sane/libsane- smfp.so.1 to point to the corresponding file in /usr/lib/sane which helps but I think the problem should be fixed in libsane1 itself. Bug#967941: bug has _NOT_ disappeared
So I dug a little bit deeper into this bug and in my case it turned out the real problem is libopenblas0-pthread version 0.3.10+ds-2 and -3. This package is a dependency of libopenblas0 which is a dependency of Octave and others. Creating a thumbnail with totem-video-thumbnailer fails for flv and mkv videos like that one mentioned by the OP: (totem-video-thumbnailer:37500): GStreamer-WARNING **: 21:23:41.129: failed to create thread: Error creating thread: Die Ressource ist zur Zeit nicht verfügbar (totem-video-thumbnailer:37500): GLib-ERROR **: 21:23:41.131: ../../../glib/gmem.c:112: failed to allocate 3145167 bytes Trace/Breakpoint ausgelöst Installing libopenblas0-pthread_0.3.10+ds-1 or adding the -l option in /usr/share/thumbnailers/totem.thumbnailer works around this bug. this bug report should really be forwarded to libopenblas0-pthread... Bug#944352: scummvm: screen gets black and/or flickering in full screen mode using X11 sessions
Package: scummvm Version: 2.1.0+dfsg1-1 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, * What led up to the situation? Starting a Gnome / X11 session and choose option "Full Screen" in scummvm. scummvm is shortly visible but renders both mouse pointers the red one of scummvm and the X11 one. If we move the mouse the screen renders black and stays black. If we try the same in a Virtualbox environment the screen flickers badly in full screen mode. * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)? Start Gnome in Wayland session * What was the outcome of this action? In a Gnome / Wayland session scummvm works fine in full screen mode. * What outcome did you expect instead? I expect scummvm to work in both X11 and Wayland sessions as it used to be before greetings -- System Information: Debian Release: bullseye/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 5.3.0-1-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Kernel taint flags: TAINT_OOT_MODULE, TAINT_UNSIGNED_MODULE Locale: LANG=de_DE.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=de_DE.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE=de_DE.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /usr/bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) LSM: AppArmor: enabled Versions of packages scummvm depends on: ii liba52-0.7.4 0.7.4-20 ii libasound2 1.1.9-1 ii libc62.29-3 ii libfaad2 2.9.1-1 ii libflac8 1.3.3-1 ii libfluidsynth1 1.1.11-4 ii libfreetype6 2.10.1-2 ii libgcc1 1:9.2.1-17 ii libjpeg62-turbo 1:1.5.2-2+b1 ii libmad0 0.15.1b-10 ii libmpeg2-4 0.5.1-8+b1 ii libogg0 1.3.2-1+b1 ii libpng16-16 1.6.37-1 ii libsdl2-2.0-02.0.10+dfsg1-1 ii libsndio7.0 1.5.0-3 ii libstdc++6 9.2.1-17 ii libtheora0 1.1.1+dfsg.1-15 ii libvorbis0a 1.3.6-2 ii libvorbisfile3 1.3.6-2 ii scummvm-data 2.1.0+dfsg1-1 ii zlib1g 1:1.2.11.dfsg-1+b1 scummvm recommends no packages. What I did in a fresh, German localized, text-only install of RC1 (AMD64) with "sid" updates installed: Downloaded both 1.2.24+nmu5 (stretch) and 1.2.27 (sid) versions of libpaper1 and libpaper-utils. Purged the installed packages: dpkg --force-all --purge libpaper1 libpaper-utils Checked /var/cache/debconf/config.dat for remaining configuration of libpaper and deleted it if any. (This happens after a manual override of /etc/papersize with dpkg-reconfigure libpaper1) Installed either version a) 24 or b) 27: dpkg --install ./libpaper1_XXX_amd64.deb ./libpaper-utils_XXX_amd64.deb In case a) I got a4 and in case b) letter in both /etc/papersize and /var/cache/debconf/config.dat. I hope this will help you to finally nail down this nasty bug... Bye, Thorsten
