Bug#1053207: firefox-esr: Gnome Desktop Zooming (200 percent for 4k resolution) isn't honored

2023-09-29 Thread Tobias Koeck
Package: firefox-esr
Version: 115.3.0esr-1~deb12u1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

since todays upgrade to Firefox ESR 115.3 the Gnome desktop zooming to
200 percent

Settings -> Displays -> Scale 200 percent

isn't honored anymore.

That means the menu, text and buttons are way too small in 4k resolution
with a 32 inch monitor.

I didn't change anything in the configuration so there must be a bug.

Greetings
Tobias

Bug#1016862: nautilus: SMB shares won't open anymore

2022-08-08 Thread Tobias Koeck
Package: nautilus
Version: 3.38.2-1+deb11u1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

Dear Maintainer,

I upgraded the package nautilus and nautilus-share with bullseye-backports.

After that the access to my nas won't work anymore.

I get after trying to access my NAS under 'Other localtions' a general

Unable to access location - Failed to retrieve share list from server:
Invalid argument.

If I try to mount it directly with smb://my.domain.info/share/ I'll get
an

Unable to access locatation - Failed to mount Windows share: Invalid
argument.

It seems to be the case that 'bullseye-backports' have broken something
with Files + Windows Network shares.

Greetings,
Tobias

2022-04-11 Thread Tobias Koeck
Package: amd64-microcode
Version: 3.20191218.1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

there seems to be a bug

https://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item=Zen-1-To-Zen-3-2022-AMD-ucode

which AMD fixed today. I think I got the same 'hang problems'.

Any plans to implement it?

Bug#932791: mdadm: inconsistent documentation

2019-07-23 Thread Tobias Koeck

Package: mdadm
Version: 4.1-1
Severity: minor

Dear Maintainer,

there seem to be inconsistencies between the man page and the help
output

The 'man mdadm' prints out

mdadm [mode] [options]

but

'mdadm --manage -h'

says

Usage: mdadm arraydevice options component devices...

Shouldn't the later say

Usage: mdadm mode arraydevice options component devices...

What's the right and/or 'official' sequence of options and parameters?

Greetings
Tobias

Bug#895922: isc-dhcp-server: dhcp server still binds additionally to IPv6 even with explicit -4 option

2018-04-17 Thread Tobias Koeck
Package: isc-dhcp-server
Version: 4.3.5-3+deb9u1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

*** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where appropriate
***
Hi,

I was wondering why the DHCP server still binds to the IPv6 address,
too.

I have two internal IPv4 addresses on the eth0 and eth0:0 interface and
one IPv6 address.

root@pdns:/etc/default# cat /etc/default/isc-dhcp-server
# Defaults for dhcp initscript
# sourced by /etc/init.d/dhcp
# installed at /etc/default/isc-dhcp-server by the maintainer scripts

#
# This is a POSIX shell fragment
#

# On what interfaces should the DHCP server (dhcpd) serve DHCP requests?
# Separate multiple interfaces with spaces, e.g. "eth0 eth1".
INTERFACESv4="eth0 eth0:0"
OPTIONS="-4"
---

root@pdns:/etc/default# lsof -i -P|grep dhcp
dhcpd 1479 root8u IPv4 20538 0t0 UDP *:67
dhcpd 1479 root 20u IPv4 20522 0t0 UDP *:59311
dhcpd 1479 root 21u IPv6 20523 0t0 UDP *:61725

*** End of the template - remove these template lines ***

-
Why does it bind to the IPv6 address. And why does it need a second IPv4
binding to Port 59311

-
root@pdns:/etc/default# ps awux|grep dhcpd
root 1479 0.0 0.2 14212 9708 ?Ss 18:30 0:00
/usr/sbin/dhcpd -q -4 -cf /etc/dhcp/dhcpd.conf -pf /var/run/dhcpd.pid
-

I am little bit puzzled about that behavior. Is it a bug or a 'feature'
i didn't recognize in the man pages.

Greetings and thanks,
Tobias

Hi,

as requested I have attached the two patches from Jean-Louis Martineau.

These patches are required to get Amanda working with the new Samba /
smbclient.

Greetings and thanks,

Betreff: Re: need to have samba-4.2.11 on amanda server

Hi All,

The attached patch fix amsamba in 3.4.1 to works with newer version of
samba.

In 3.3.9 you also need the patch from
https://github.com/zmanda/amanda/commit/585b2139153f8d4a93ccc796983eedfa5a38e6ce

Jean-Louis

alias snd-card-0snd-hda-intel
options snd-hda-intel index=0
alias snd-card-1snd-usb-audio
options snd-usb-audio index=-2

to prevent the webcam to get prio 0 soundcard.

Run as root:
# alsa force-reload
or
# reboot

and check again via the output of:

$ cat /proc/asound/cards
or
$ aplay -l

Any progress?

Seems to work so far (only the QMMP - with alsa settings) doesn't
seem to work anymore.

QMMP ?

Sound sometimes works, sometimes doesn't (dependend on the boot up).
I tried switching the soundcard with alsamixer (and enabling the
channels).

It seems to work if the usb webcam isn't the first device.

What tells
$ lsmod | grep snd
?

Okay I will try that - thanks

Btw. I get sometimes alsa problems problems if I turn my monitor off
and on again. This seems to be related to the HDMI Output Device.

Anyway, is this still an alsa problem? There will be a lot of newer
devices (laptops, ...) with more than one ALSA device (like webcams, ...).

according to /usr/share/doc/alsa-base/README.Debian.gz I would
advice you to create /etc/modprobe.d/sound.conf with the contents
shown below:

alias snd-card-0snd-hda-intel
options snd-hda-intel index=0
alias snd-card-1snd-usb-audio
options snd-usb-audio index=-2

to prevent the webcam to get prio 0 soundcard.

Run as root:
# alsa force-reload
or
# reboot

and check again via the output of:

$ cat /proc/asound/cards
or
$ aplay -l

In the logfile I can see following output:

a bug in the ALSA driver 'snd_hda_intel'. Please report this issue to

Bug#551301: unetbootin doesn't add syslinux kernel and other syslinux files to the usb stick

2009-10-17 Thread Tobias Koeck

The file is

de_windows_7_enterprise_x64_dvd_x15-70789.iso (original from the msdn dev)

md5sum de_windows_7_enterprise_x64_dvd_x15-70789.iso

8ee05fb7cb7d47b09fa27866f4d510f0
de_windows_7_enterprise_x64_dvd_x15-70789.iso

it's a 16 GByte USBStick, first partition formatted in FAT32 - Size
4,5 GB (I have also tried to format in FAT16 - same result), the
mainboard is an Asus P5B Premium (newest BIOS update).

mounted in /mnt/usb

unetbootin doesn't add syslinux kernel and other syslinux files to the usb stick so the usb stick doesn't boot

This is too generic. Please describe your situation better, e.g. what
configuration you chose in the unetbootin window, what distribution was
selected etc.
