Bug#771129: Acknowledgement ([lxc] Cpusets don't work)

2014-11-27 Thread Vedran Furač
Hello,

This doesn't seem to work at all regardless of LXC. Likely a cgroups or
documentation issue.

cpuset man page refers to physical CPUs:

cpuset.cpus
List of the physical numbers of the CPUs on which processes in that
cpuset are allowed to execute.

yet every other source is mentioning logical CPU cores so I'm confused.

I guess this can be moved to one of cgroup packages as its their issue.

Thanks,
Vedran

2014-11-26 Thread Vedran Furač

Hello,

Hello,

Stopping cgmanager didn't help, however I was able to figure it out. I
had to enable:

$ tail -5 /etc/default/libvirtd
# Whether to mount a systemd like cgroup layout (only
# useful when not running systemd)
mount_cgroups=yes
# Which cgroups to mount
cgroups=cpu cpuacct cpuset devices freezer net_cls net_prio blkio
perf_event memory

This needs to be done if init isn't systemd (i.e. when using
systemd-shim). Please close this bug report after documenting this
somewhere (perhaps on https://wiki.debian.org/LXC).

Vedran

 Looking at the fontconfig-config config and postinst script, one can see
 that fontconfig-config does in principle take care of this issue by
 preseeding the debconf questions with tests for those symlinks.

 I therefore ask you to add more detail to this bug. Can you point out
 which file you were trying to remove? When doing so, please Cc me and
 remove the moreinfo tag added in this mail.

This is what I do:

# rm /etc/fonts/conf.d/70-no-bitmaps.conf

But it gets reverted without asking after upgrades.

Bug#760426: [systemd] Logs gone after moving to systemd

Hey, thanks for quick reply!

On 04.09.2014 02:18, Michael Biebl wrote:

 By documentation I mean:

 - Package description (mentions that it replaces sysvinit only)
 - README.Debian

 Such a huge change must be announced using bold and uppercase and be
 documented properly. Debian usually warns through debconf for far more
 trivial things.

 Which version of rsyslog do you have installed?
 Which version of systemd do you use?
 What's the output of
 systemctl status syslog.socket rsyslog.service
 systemctl is-enabled rsyslog.service

 Installing systemd is not supposed to break any existing installed
 syslog. Rsyslog works great under systemd (even better then under sysvinit).

Here it is, without systemd-sysv:

# logger -t TEST 1234
# tail -1 /var/log/syslog
Sep  4 22:36:10 hostname TEST: 1234

# dpkg -l|grep systemd
ii  libpam-systemd:amd64

ii  libsystemd-journal0:amd64  214-1
 amd64systemd journal utility library (deprecated)

 amd64system and service manager
ii  systemd-shim   7-2exp1
 amd64shim for systemd

# apt-get install systemd-sysv=214-1
# reboot

Now with systed-sysv:

# logger -t TEST 1234
# tail -1 /var/log/syslog
Sep  4 22:38:09 hostname rsyslogd: [origin software=rsyslogd
swVersion=8.4.0 x-pid=2886 x-info=http://www.rsyslog.com;] exiting
on signal 15.

# journalctl --system|tail -1
Ruj 04 22:40:13 rigel TEST[2957]: 1234

# systemctl status syslog.socket rsyslog.service

● syslog.socket - Syslog Socket
   Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/syslog.socket; static)
   Active: inactive (dead)
 Docs: man:systemd.special(7)
   http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/systemd/syslog
   Listen: /run/systemd/journal/syslog (Datagram)

● rsyslog.service - System Logging Service
   Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/rsyslog.service; enabled)
   Active: inactive (dead)
 Docs: man:rsyslogd(8)
   http://www.rsyslog.com/doc/

# systemctl is-enabled rsyslog.service
enabled

As you can see expected behavior is changed, and even worse, that's done
silently, without any warning and no explanation in documentation. It
also breaks unrelated packages like logcheck, etc (thus likely a RC bug).

Vedran

Package: systemd
Severity: important

Few days ago I noticed /var/log/syslog was empty. After some time I

replacing init system will silently break my logs, nor was this
mentioned in documentation. By documentation I mean:

Also, explain how to configure systemd to use local rsyslog for logging

Bug#758973: [fontconfig-config] Stop breaking user configuration in /etc/fonts/conf.d/ after every upgrade

2014-08-23 Thread Vedran Furač
Package: fontconfig-config
Version: 2.11.0-6.1
Severity: serious

Every time I change fontconfig configuration by removing symlinks in
/etc/fonts/conf.d/ you return it back after upgrade. This is /etc and
you should preserve local changes during package upgrades per policy
(10.7.3).

Hi and sorry for a huge delay on this. Line upload.cc:87 is:

struct sigaction act = {{0}};

When I dropped extra {}, it compiled fine on mips, but on amd64 I get

To me this this looks like an obvious gcc bug, either on mips or amd64.

Bug#655564: Bug#652826: RFS: logkeys (fixing RC bugs)

2012-01-15 Thread Vedran Furač
Hey,

Function that does this check is as follows:

void set_utf8_locale()
{
  // set locale to common UTF-8 for wchars to be recognized correctly
  if(setlocale(LC_CTYPE, en_US.UTF-8) == NULL) { // if en_US.UTF-8
isn't available
char *locale = setlocale(LC_CTYPE, ); // try the locale that
corresponds to the value of the associated environment variable LC_CTYPE
if (locale == NULL ||
strstr(locale, UTF-8) == NULL || strstr(locale, UTF8) == NULL ||
strstr(locale, utf-8) == NULL || strstr(locale, utf8) == NULL)
  error(EXIT_FAILURE, 0, LC_CTYPE locale must be of UTF-8 type);
  }
}

Is your LC_CTYPE env var set correctly? If so, easiest would be to add
few printf()s in the function above and see what actually happens.

Vedran

 Looks like one of certs had expired?

 That could be the problem, but that would indicate a bug in the all
 previous versions of gnutls.

 The expiration checking had to be explicitly done by the application using
 gnutls in the previous version. Implicit checking by gnutls was added in
 2.8.x.
 2.8? But it works for me in 2.8.6, something is changed in 2.10.x.

 The change in 2.10 was that the intermediate and CA certificates are
 being checked for expiration as well.

OK, that would explain it.

 I don't understand your point. Is the certificate expired or not?
 Sure, it's expired, but gnutls fails to detect that and is blabbing about:

 TLS: peer cert untrusted or revoked (0x402)
 TLS: can't connect: (unknown error code).
 or
 GnuTLS error: Error in the certificate.

 gnutls is a library it doesn't print anything. This is an application issue.

Fine then, the latter (GnuTLS error: Error in the certificate.) is the
output of gnutls-cli, bug is there then.

Anyway, you can close the report.

Sure, it's expired, but gnutls fails to detect that and is blabbing about:

TLS: peer cert untrusted or revoked (0x402)
TLS: can't connect: (unknown error code).

or

GnuTLS error: Error in the certificate.

While it should:

# grep -Ri expire /tmp/gnutls26-2.10.5/src

/tmp/gnutls26-2.10.5/src/common.c:if (status  GNUTLS_CERT_EXPIRED)
/tmp/gnutls26-2.10.5/src/common.c:  printf (- Peer's certificate
chain uses expired certificate\n);

I had to make this work asap so I tried to generate new certificate. I
know I previously used openssl to generate self-signed certificate, but
unfortunately I forgot to document the procedure (as certs generated
using standard method do not work (another, imho, bug)). So I used
certtool following steps from:

http://wiki.debian.org/LDAP/OpenLDAPSetup

I had to remove TLSCACertificateFile and have updated TLS_REQCERT in
ldap.conf from demand to allow. Wiki says to use TLS_REQCERT never,
but that's plain wrong as the client will not request or check any
server certificate with that setting.

That could be the problem, but that would indicate a bug in the all
previous versions of gnutls. Also note that same certificate works with
apache, postfix, dovecot,... and their clients (firefox, thunderbird,...).

 Please re-run with '-d 4711 -V' to
 get more information. You removed the subject/issuer names so I cannot
 tell if that is the trusted root CA cert or an intermediate cert. If it
 is an intermediate untrusted cert, the error is expected.

It's a self-signed certificate with more/less dummy data. I can't send it.

 Yes, because it is meant for the Xorg release for squeeze. If Squeeze
 has been release I will switch on xorg 1.9.

But packages uploaded to experimental are not intended to directly end
up in squeeze. You can put version for squeeze in unstable and have
experimental fglrx packages depend on experimental xorg versions. That's

 Please remember that don't build the package with ssl support until you get
 an exception from fefe. My last mails about this topic never got an answer -
 otherwise the package would be already in debian.

OK. Also, AFAIK ssl support would require openssl compiled with dietlibc

 Do we really need another ftp server or another http server? What
 makes this any better than the other alternatives?

- Small static binary, fast
- Doesn't require configuration (you need only a few seconds to start
sharing a directory)

Neither lighttpd/nginx nor proftpd/vsftpd fall into this category. There
could be an alternative that I don't know of, sure.

 Also:

logkeys is a keylogger for GNU/Linux systems. It is no more advanced
than other available linux keyloggers, but is a bit more up to date, it
doesn't unreliably repeat keys and it should never crash your X. All in
all, it just seems to work. It relies on event interface of the Linux
input subsystem. Once set, it logs all common character and function
keys, while also being fully aware of Shift and AltGr key modifiers.

Bug#562686: [console-setup] Silently breaks console-tools

2009-12-26 Thread Vedran Furač
Package: console-setup
Version: 1.50
Severity: important

Console-setup silently breaks console-tools. Yes, you've added a
paragraph in README.Debian, but I think that simply not enough.
Console-setup should detect that console-tools is installed and when
started should echo something like console-tools detected, its settings
will be overridden or similar. Also during installation you should show
this information to the user. I lost almost an hour today on this so
I'll set the severity to important.

 somehow affected bfilter and if not, I'll contact my sponsor to upload
 the package (or you can do a NMU instead if you want).

 The patch is good to avoid the FTBFS but is not good because it removes
 what the branch callback was there for: avoiding infinite loops.

 It appears that contrary to the branch callback, the operation callbacks
 are not automatically triggered, and must be triggered by the
 application itself, typically either from a signal handler or a watchdog
 thread. See
 http://groups.google.com/group/mozilla.dev.tech.js-engine/browse_thread/thread/a4d1fe147761aacb/e61d2592faf4ef72?lnk=gstq=js_setoperationcallback#e61d2592faf4ef72
 for reference.

Thanks for info. I've read this now, but libjs is completely unknown to
me, so even after reading I'm to sure what to do. Should I put
JS_TriggerOperationCallback somewhere or? During this week when I tested
patched bfilter, I experienced one infinite-loop like behavior. Apart
from that, bfilter runs and works normally.

Vedran

 This package should probably be updated to use xulrunner instead anyway,
 as Ubuntu has done.

Unfortunately, JS_SetBranchCallback was removed for some reason in

won't be affected. And, btw, ubuntu version FTBFS also here. I'm not

Bug#541256: TLS: could not set cipher list TLS_RSA_AES_256_CBC_SHA1

2009-08-12 Thread Vedran Furač
Package: slapd
Version: 2.4.17-1
Severity: important

OpenLDAP+gnutls worked fine for me for more than a year, but now I have
TLS problems again. It started on my unstable client when libnss-ldap
reported:

TLS: could not set cipher list TLS_RSA_AES_256_CBC_SHA1

Then I upgraded gnutls and ldap on my server from lenny to unstable and
now even slapd doesn't start:

TLS: could not set cipher list TLS_RSA_AES_256_CBC_SHA1.
main: TLS init def ctx failed: -1

If I comment out line which defines cipher:

TLSCipherSuite TLS_RSA_AES_256_CBC_SHA1

it works again.

$ gnutls-cli -l|grep TLS_RSA_AES_256_CBC_SHA1
TLS_RSA_AES_256_CBC_SHA1 0x00, 0x35  SSL3.0

...so I don't see why it shouldn't work.

Thanks, bye!

 Note that a difference for GnuTLS with 2.4.17 is that it uses gcrypt if a
 newer GnuTLS is detected, so it is possible gcrypt is broken.

 Please see the upstream comments. The issue is broken behavior on GnuTLS'
 part.

Ah... I see. Thanks for forwarding it! Anyway, I tried his suggestion
and changed slapd.conf on server side and libnss/pam_ldap.conf/ldap.conf
on client to have:

TLSCipherSuite +AES-256-CBC:+SHA1

Now slapd starts, but connection (e.g. getent passwd) to it fails with:

TLS: can't connect: No supported cipher suites have been found..

And ldapsearch -ZZ:

TLS: can't connect: A TLS packet with unexpected length was received.

 This bug is very annoying. On some/most pages it pops up more than one
 download window. If someone planing on using bfilter on lenny, than
 he/she must add all ad urls to the urls.local or recompile it from
 source. The point of bfilter contrary to adblock is that it don't need
 any blacklist to work. It's a so little fix and affect the usability of
 bfilter so much.

Hi!

Can you send me some URLs on which this bug occurs. AFAIK, I don't
experience behavior you describe.

No, but I do get a couple of Warn: No GLXFBConfig for depth 32 lines

I tried to reduce the depth to 24, but it seems that neither radeon nor
intel driver support that.

 Hmm. Another possibility is that the decoration plugin is disabled in
 the compizconfig configuration. Can you check in
 compizconfig-settings-manager (executable name ccsm) that its checkbox
 is enabled?

Yes, it is enabled.

 It's unlikely to matter - generally, if the decorations are missing,
 it's usually due to either

   * decoration plugin not loaded

After running compiz I get:

Adding plugin decoration (decoration)
Initializing decoration options...done

   * gtk/kde-window-decorator not running

It is according to ps(1).

   * Version mismatch between compiz-core / compiz-gtk/kde /
 libdecoration0

All three packages are 0.7.6-7.

 Why is every problem with wpasupplicant Severity: important ... ;-)

Yesterday I tried to setup WEP encryption but failed (reported #489948)
and today tried WPA and also failed (reported this). So I assumed that
wpa_supplicant is completely broken for ad-hoc mode and I find this
important. If you disagree then please change the severity.
Btw. I usualy report this kind of bugs directly to the upstream but their
bugzilla requires me to get an account and I don't want to register.

 I tried to setup WPA in Ad-Hoc mode but failed. On the other hand in windows
 this works fine which means that other peer is configured properly.

Bug#489948: wpasupplicant: Sets WEP key 30 seconds after starting

2008-07-08 Thread Vedran Furač
Package: wpasupplicant
Version: 0.6.3-2
Severity: normal

Configuration:

ssid=...
mode=1
frequency=2412
key_mgmt=NONE
wep_key0=...
wep_tx_keyidx=0

}

Wpasupplicant sets WEP encryption key after 30 second delay. Ifup scripts
activate interface and run dhclient but it fails because key is not set yet.
Then I have to manualy run:

# ifconfig wlan1 down
# ifconfig wlan1 up
# dhclient3 wlan1

...to enable wireless.

Bug#345554: Two same aliases in 10-cgi.conf

2008-07-07 Thread Vedran Furač
OK, there's this bug (feature?) in lighttpd, but there's also a bug in
10-cgi.conf. You have two *SAME* aliases in it and one of them is
obviously superfluous:

alias.url   += ( /cgi-bin/ = /usr/lib/cgi-bin/ )

$HTTP[remoteip] =~ 127.0.0.1 {
alias.url += ( /cgi-bin/ = /usr/lib/cgi-bin/ )
$HTTP[url] =~ ^/cgi-bin/ {
cgi.assign = (  =  )
}
}

Please remove one of them and then close this bug.

Vedran Furač

Bug#462588: Same here

2008-01-29 Thread Vedran Furač
I have the same problem after upgrading. I use start_tls mechanism on port
389 (not 636). After trying some ciphers and doing :

% echo debug 1  /etc/libnss-ldap.conf
% getent passwd

I get:

[...]
TLS: can't connect: Insufficient credentials for that request..

or

TLS: can't connect: A TLS packet with unexpected length was received..

...depending on ciphers I choose. Then I commented out ciphers line from
slapd.conf and libnss-ldap.conf/pam_ldap.conf and it seemed to work...for
a second...

Postfix sasl authentication over TLS stopped working:

I must reread that chapter in policy. I changed it because upstream uses
-Os as default...

I'll prepare a new release. Thanks for help!

Hi!

Maybe optimization level? I changed it from -O2 to -Os in this release.
As I'm not a DD I can't trigger a new build attempt on alpha and I'm not
sure what is the standard procedure in this case.

Bug#379292: xkb-data hr layout broke the normal AltGr+numbers behaviour

 /usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/hr does not contain any such definition, this
 is a configuration problem on your side. Can you please check?
 I don't understand what you are saying. If you have a PC keyboard with
 AltGr,
 what happens once you run 'setxkbmap hr' and then type AltGr+3?
 You can get tilde with shift and that key left of 1/!.

 That's fine, but I don't just want the tilde, I want the caret back to two
 keypresses, too. And the backtick, and sometimes the double acute, and all
 the others.

I asked about this change on hcol group back in april but no one
cared/complained.

I would just like that shift+TLDE remains mapped to tilde so I could get
it with one hand.

 The compose functionality is nifty, I agree, but it's simply not a feature
 of the standard Croatian keyboard layout and should be relegated back to an
 option.

According to symbols/hr this is not compose, but deadkeys functionality.
See symbols/cs lines 153-165 (AE01-AE12). Columns 3 (altgr/ralt) and 4
(altgr/ralt+shift) should be swaped.

Denis, please redefine the whole row then (AE01 - AE12), not just 1,3,5 and 7.

 Denis, please redefine the whole row then (AE01 - AE12), not just 1,3,5 and
 7.
 That would be fine by me, presuming this is what fully restores the layout
 to the one from old X.

 symbols/pc/hr used to define
   key AE01  { [ 1, exclam,   asciitilde,   dead_tilde ] };
   key AE02  { [ 2,   quotedbl,   dead_caron,caron ] };
   key AE03  { [ 3, numbersign,  asciicircum, dead_circumflex ] };
   key AE04  { [ 4, dollar,   dead_breve,breve ] };
   key AE05  { [ 5,percent,   degree, dead_abovering ] };
   key AE06  { [ 6,  ampersand,  dead_ogonek,   ogonek ] };
   key AE07  { [ 7,  slash,grave,   dead_grave ] };
   key AE08  { [ 8,  parenleft, dead_abovedot,abovedot ] };
   key AE09  { [ 9, parenright,   dead_acute,   apostrophe ] };
   key AE10  { [ 0,  equal, dead_doubleacute, doubleacute ] };
   key AE11  { [apostrophe,   question, dead_diaeresis,  diaeresis ] };
   key AE12  { [  plus,   asterisk, dead_cedilla,  cedilla ] };

 3rd and 4th levels are now defined in symbols/cs(level3)
   key AE01 {   [ any,any, dead_tilde,  asciitilde  ]   };
   key AE02 {   [ any,any, dead_caron,  caron   ]   };
   key AE03 {   [ any,any, dead_circumflex, asciicircum ]   };
   key AE04 {   [ any,any, dead_breve,  breve   ]   };
   key AE05 {   [ any,any, dead_abovering,  degree  ]   };
   key AE06 {   [ any,any, dead_ogonek, ogonek  ]   };
   key AE07 {   [ any,any, dead_grave,  grave   ]   };
   key AE08 {   [ any,any, dead_abovedot,   abovedot]   };
   key AE09 {   [ any,any, dead_acute,  apostrophe  ]   };
   key AE10 {   [ any,any, dead_doubleacute,doubleacute ]   };
   key AE11 {   [ any,any, dead_diaeresis,  diaeresis   ]   };
   key AE12 {   [ any,any, dead_cedilla,cedilla ]   };

 So unless I am mistaken, only 1, 3, 5 and 7 have to be redefined.

That's true, but I can't see any good reason for having deadkeys mixed in
3rd and 4th level.
In my opinion it's logical to have one level (4th in this case) composed
solely of deadkeys. It's easier to remember.

Bug#379292: xkb-data hr layout broke the normal AltGr+numbers behaviour

2006-08-26 Thread Vedran Furač

 On a standard Croatian keyboard, the AltGr (right Alt) key is not used as
 a compose key in combination with the second row of the qwertz keyboard.

 This change annoys me to no end, because right now in order for me to get
 the characters tilde (~) or caret (^) I have to make three keypresses
 instead of two like everywhere else.

 The change needs to be reverted and the compose thing relegated to an
 option. I'll try to find a way to patch this and submit it.
 Hi Josip,

 /usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/hr does not contain any such definition, this
 is a configuration problem on your side. Can you please check?

 I don't understand what you are saying. If you have a PC keyboard with AltGr,
 what happens once you run 'setxkbmap hr' and then type AltGr+3?

You can get tilde with shift and that key left of 1/!.

If you want to go back, just add:

key AE01  { [ 1, exclam,   asciitilde,   dead_tilde ] };

after include cs(latin) in your symbols/hr. It should look like this:

xkb_symbols basic {
name[Group1]=Croatia;
include cs(latin)
key AE01  { [ 1, exclam,   asciitilde,   dead_tilde ] };
};
[...]

Bug#339359: I have the same problem

Hi!

Helvetica, Times, fonts from artwiz package and probably more are missing
from every OOo app, but they are available in every other application that
uses fontconfig. This bug is present (for me at least) in every version
from 2.0.0 to 2.0.3.

Vincent, could you remember what did you do to fix the problem?

Bug#376426: libnss-ldap: Can't login even as local user

 For both of you (having problem)?

 I've seen this before, when I've messed up my .bashrc and/or .bash_login
 (the corresponding files for bash which I use). I couldn't login, but
 all errors indicated that it was lib{nss,pam}-ldap that was at fault...

 I recommend 'removing' these two files and try again...

 The last zsh update was 24 June, so quite recently. I changed my login shell
 to
 bash (last update 23 march, no local changes to the bash config) and it has
 exactly the same problem. I've also tried sash and that seems to work fine..

Same here, except I can't login[1] even using sash.

If I start nscd, login, and then disable nscd, sash will work (unlike bash
or zsh).

[1] Authentication is, actually, successful, I see the MOTD, but shell
isn't started and it brings me back to login: .

 what version of login is it? Can you

Plain login(1) from sid: 1:4.0.16-2.

But the problem is not in login(1), if I log in with nscd and then disable
it *every* started app will crash immediately with SIGPIPE, just like
Sjoerd said.

 try and strace it, or run it under gdb and see what's happening? Do you

Last 200 lines from strace, I'll will show complete output if necessary:

http://www.inet.hr/~vfurac/libnss-ldap.strace

 have any other LDAP libraries installed?

Just these:

libldap2   2.1.30-13+b1
libnss-ldap251-5
libpam-ldap180-1

No ipv6 here, /var/lib/libnss-ldap/ is empty.

Bug#373833: xbase-clients: hr(us) layout apparently broken

 xkb_symbols us { ... } section.

Inserting 'include us' after the 'name[Group1]= Croatia - US keyboard
with Croatian letters;' line fixes the problem for me. Try that and see
if it helps.
