Bug#533655: irssi: privmsg problem with bitlbee

2009-06-22 Thread Wouter Coekaerts
I cannot reproduce that here. (And if it would always happen we probably would
have heard more about about it)

Is there anything specific about your setup? Does buddy have non-ascii
characters in it for example?

Regards,

Wouter.

Bug#530588: provide activity_show_targets

implemented as patches in Debian packages, unless you're damn sure
that upstream will never touch the code again, which is clearly not
the case here, because then you have the risk that either upstream
will implement it themselves in a different way and break
compatibility for existing users or upstream will reject the idea and
then you're stuck maintaining the patch forever.

I like that. Note that in general, if (and only if) the original author
doesn't want to maintain a script anymore, there's also still the possibility
of pushing bugfixes directly in or taking over maintainership of a script in
the irssi.org scripts archive (by mailing st...@irssi.org and explaining the
original author isn't interested anymore).

Bug#530588: provide activity_show_targets

2009-05-26 Thread Wouter Coekaerts
Hi,

The act bar included in irssi itself is a basic act bar, fitting the
essential needs, and intentionally kept simple.
More powerful/configurable act bar is provided by scripts (chanact.pl,
adv_windowlist.pl). It is even only recent that actlist_names (showing
names instead of numbers) got added into irssi itself, because it is a
very common need. The chanact script can do anything the act bar in
irssi can (and more), so there is no loss from not being in irssi
itself.

I do agree that an activity_show_targets could be useful for some; but
it seems so uncommon that we do not believe something like that
belongs in irssi core (and if it would, all the chanact-features would
too). I recommend this is added to the chanact script instead.

Regards,

Wouter.

Bug#528918: Replace mouse-soliton.pl with mouse.pl

2009-05-16 Thread Wouter Coekaerts
Package: irssi-scripts
Version: 20090510

Version 20090510 of irssi-scripts includes the mouse-soliton.pl script (bug
#446506). But that script is a patched up version of an older version (0.0.0)
of mouse.pl, which in mean time has had more bugfixes and improvements, and now
(since today) also includes the features the soliton one has.
Please drop the mouse-soliton one and replace it by the real mouse.pl (now
1.0.0) from http://wouter.coekaerts.be/site/irssi/mouse (which is still the
url mouse-soliton points at too)

Thanks,

Wouter aka coekie - the mouse.pl author.

I did some comparison of scripts in Debian and on the irssi scripts site, and
updated the ones that had a newer version in Debian. See below for the

Maybe it would help you if we provided a tarball of the scripts on the site?

Bug#336425: Already possible

2008-06-09 Thread Wouter Coekaerts
Hi,

With some effort, this is already possible.

1. You can use trigger.pl to strip the colors from message. There is an
example in the documentation:
Strip all colorcodes from [EMAIL PROTECTED]:
/TRIGGER ADD -all -masks [EMAIL PROTECTED] -regexp
'\x03\d?\d?(,\d\d?)?|\x02|\x1f|
\x16|\x06' -replace ''

To do the same for some channels, use /trigger add -channels '#chan1
#chan2' -regex ...

2. You can set a different theme per channel with /window theme name, and
change the timestamp for the theme with /format timestamp

What I'd like is an option to ignore them just in the activity monitor.

Then I guess you're looking for /set activity_hide_level

No, this bug isn't fixed at all! There's just a workaround, which is
uninstalling and reinstalling the package. But (as far as I know) everyone
who follows unstable close enough and has this package and didn't apply
this workaround, still has the broken situation.
It would be nice if a next version would repair that situation somehow...

I don't know anything about how symlinks are supposed to be handled
in .debs, but as long as nobody can point out what was done wrong in the
packaging of linux-headers-2.6.12-1, this could just as well concidered a
bug in dpkg, as it looks like it handled this upgrade wrong.

(after a bit of googling which I should have done first) :
From Debian Policy Manual , 6.5 Details of unpack phase of installation or
upgrade:
A directory will never be replaced by a symbolic link to a directory or
vice versa; instead, the existing state (symlink or not) will be left alone
and dpkg will follow the symlink if there is one.
So it is documented behaviour.

And http://lists.debian.org/debian-mentors/2004/07/msg00425.html suggests
removing the symlink in preinst is what should be done.

Bug#323702: symlink arch from previous version not removed

2005-08-18 Thread Wouter Coekaerts
The problem is, there is still a symlink from a previous version there if
you upgrade.

Suppose we start from a system without any linux-headers-2.6.12-1* package.
Then we install the -2 version (which used to be in unstable) of
linux-headers-2.6.12-1 and the -686 one:
# dpkg -i linux-headers-2.6.12-1_2.6.12-2_i386.deb
linux-headers-2.6.12-1-686_2.6.12-2_i386.deb

If we now look at the arch directory, we'll see it's a symlink:
# ls -ld /usr/src/linux-headers-2.6.12-1-686/arch
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 30 2005-08-18
12:31 /usr/src/linux-headers-2.6.12-1-686/arch
- ../linux-headers-2.6.12-1/arch

Then we upgrade to the -5 versions:
# dpkg -i linux-headers-2.6.12-1_2.6.12-5_i386.deb
linux-headers-2.6.12-1-686_2.6.12-5_i386.deb

Then the symlink is still there:
# ls -ld /usr/src/linux-headers-2.6.12-1-686/arch
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 30 2005-08-18
12:31 /usr/src/linux-headers-2.6.12-1-686/arch
- ../linux-headers-2.6.12-1/arch

Because the linux-headers-2.6.12-1-686 package should have replaced that
arch symlink with a real dir, but instead, it wrote within the dir the
symlink points to.
linux-headers-2.6.12-1-686's files overwrite the files from
linux-headers-2.6.12-1 in /usr/src/linux-headers-2.6.12-1/arch/i386/

And that's what causes the Makefile to point to itself.

If we remove them, and reinstall them, this time just the -5 version, all is
fine:
# dpkg -r linux-headers-2.6.12-1 linux-headers-2.6.12-1-686
# dpkg -i linux-headers-2.6.12-1_2.6.12-5_i386.deb
linux-headers-2.6.12-1-686_2.6.12-5_i386.deb
# ls -ld /usr/src/linux-headers-2.6.12-1-686/arch
drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 4096 2005-08-18
12:33 /usr/src/linux-headers-2.6.12-1-686/arch
