Bug#783033: evince-gtk: unable to select vertical text

2015-04-20 Thread annonygmouse

Package: evince-gtk
Version: 3.14.1-2
Severity: normal

I can't select vertical text from the following PDF:
http://www.caib.es/eboibfront/pdf/VisPdf?action=VisEdicteidDocument=914772lang=ca

If I search some part of the vertical text, evince finds the texts and
highlights it, but can't select it.

Hi!

Jut letting you know that because of this bug, libpam-script has been
marked for deletion from testing. This means it won't reach stable!!!

Hope you can fix it soon (or mark as wontfix if it's expected behaviour).

Bug#544340: 2.6.30: can't boot 2.6.30-1-amd64, Couldn't find valid RAM disk image starting at 0

2009-08-30 Thread annonygmouse
Package: linux-image-2.6.30-1-amd64
Version: 2.6.30-6
Severity: grave
File: 2.6.30
Justification: renders package unusable

After installing linux-image-2.6.30-1-amd64, the system is unable to boot.
I says:
RAMDISK: Couldn't find valid RAM disk image starting at 0.
...
Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(8,4).

Booting with linux-old (I'm using lilo and linux-image-2.6.29-1-amd64) does
work.

Any hints?

In these makbookspro there was a bug about the ramdisk size, but I think it
can't be the same problem, as the 2.6.30 image is slightly smaller than
2.6.29.

No, grave means: renders the package unusable for _everyone_.

OK, sorry.

After installing linux-image-2.6.30-1-amd64, the system is unable to boot.
I says:
RAMDISK: Couldn't find valid RAM disk image starting at 0.

We don't support anything generating ramdisk. We only use initramfs,
which is handled different.

I didn't understand that...

Booting with linux-old (I'm using lilo and linux-image-2.6.29-1-amd64) does
work.

lilo have many problems.

I know, but when I installed Debian on this mbp grub wasn't able to boot
it, the recommended bootloader was lilo (if I remember correctly).

Anyway, I've given grub2 a try and it has booted perfectly, in case
anyone needs a how-to:

Install grub2
when configuring do not install on /dev/sda
run
update-grub2 (maybe not needed)
grub-install /dev/sda4 (if sda4 is your linux bootable partition
where previously lilo was).
Reboot and EFI should still have the linux option that will boot grub
instead of lilo.

Farewell lilo.

Thanks for the hint.
If grub is the default bootloader (I think so) I think this bug can be
closed.

Sebastià

May you try to upgrade to this and retry? After thatm and if it still

I've just found out that it now works (hadn't tried for a while) I think

Description: LInux LOader - The Classic OS loader can load Linux and others
This package contains lilo (the installer) and boot-record-images to
install Linux, OS/2, DOS and generic Boot Sectors of other OSes.

You can use LILO to manage your Master Boot Record (with a simple text
screen, text menu or colorful splash graphics) or call LILO from

other Boot-Loaders to jump-start the Linux kernel.

Is this the warning saying that de 8MB barrier has been met? Because I
think this warning happened before...

Because I read on http://openoffice.debian.net/

stable for 64bits.
I'll give it a try this week.

SID != sid. The codename is sid. Not SID. Don't
 get confused by broken
persons who mostly use SID etc.

OK, I'll watch my CAPS from now on ;)

I have just installed openoffice.org 2.0.4 on my amd64 and it works
perfectly (so far ;).
And the message doesn't appear... no idea what was up and I don't care :O

Bug#393214: Can't open a file if it has an accented character like Hí.doc.

2006-10-15 Thread annonygmouse

Package: openoffice.org
Version: 2.0.4~rc3-1

Title says it all.
When oppening a file with an accent openoffice starts loading
but it stops showing a message: /home/jo/Hí.doc does not exist.

My environment:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ env|grep LANG
LANG=ca_ES.UTF-8
LANGUAGE=ca_ES:ca:en_GB:en

Changing my LANG to
LANG=C oowriter /home/jo/Hí.doc
works! But shows the filename mangled, something like HA~-.doc

Any idea what's up?

I'm not sure since when does this happen, I've noticed after upgrading
to 2.04~rc3-1.

Note: I'm running openoffice in a 32 chroot environment because I'm
using Debian SID 64bits.

Any hint?

How is the file encoded?

The file is created using: touch Hí.doc, so it's an empty file.
I've detected the problem opening a file from WWW, but I can't remember
the URL.

Changing my LANG to
LANG=C oowriter /home/jo/Hí.doc

Hmm.

Which file picker? Native or GNOME one?

I'm using KDE, I wasn't using the file picker from openoffice, I
was running: oowriter /home/jo/Hí.doc from command line.
Anyway, I've tried to open the file from _inside_ openoffice with
same result (Native file picker).

Note: I'm running openoffice in a 32 chroot environment because I'm
using Debian SID 64bits.

Update: the 32bits chroot environment can't be blamed, I've got mplayer
there also and I can view videos like: entrénamiento.wmv...

AFAIK openoffice 2.0.4 has not yet arrived to Debian, has it?

(Besides the fact that a Debian SID doesn't even exist)

I kind of disagree

Maybe it doesn't _exist_ in a sense that it _allways_ changes, but
_exists_ nontheless :).

Package: boost
Version: 1.33.1

I'm not sure if I should mark this bug as important wishlist or what.
Anyway, the installation of libboost_thread1.33.1
copies the file libboost_thread-gcc-mt-1_33_1.so.1.33.1 to /usr/lib
should'nt also create the respective symlink?

PS: This also applies to all boost libraries:

Wich renders this library, and gnomemeeting uninstallable.

also says that the package is not installable.

Bug#355614: Does not detect an already running gaim

2006-03-06 Thread annonygmouse

Package: gaim
Version: 1:1.5.0+1.5.1cvs20051015-2
Severity: normal

Gaim does not detect an already running gaim instance.
So you can open more and more instances of gaim.
I was going to catalogue this as a wish, but in the
changelog says:
 Since v1.1.0:
Both the installer and gaim now perform checks to see
if an instance of gaim is already running.
so I suppose it's a bug.

Kind regards
Sebastià

Bug#354874: konqueror: select file by name using keyboard does only work when the view is name ordered

2006-03-01 Thread annonygmouse

Package: konqueror
Version: 4:3.5.1-1
Severity: minor

I don't know if this is a *feature*, but I think is a bug.

From an usability point of view it's very good to be able to hit a key

and that konqueror positions the cursor on the first file that starts
with the pressed character.
Unfortunately this does _only_ work when you are viewing the files
ordered by name.
I normally have the view ordered by date (so I can see quickly the
last files I worked with), but It feels weird having to order by name
and then click on the character of the first character of the file
I want to find.

I'm not too familiar with the media protocol. Is it a local removable

When using udev + hal + kde (and even without udev and hal, not sure
about that...), there is a kioslave that provides a listing of all
storage devices on the system (hard drives, floppies, CDs, ZIP drives, etc.)

If you're using KDE, just open the konqueror and try writing the URL:
media:/

When trying to burn an ISO image on the file dialog I access the file
using media:/ protocol. When I click on OK a popup dialog appears
saying that I can only select local files and does not allow the ISO to
be burnt.

Kind regards

Bug#340106: dhclient script gets wrong kernel majorname

2005-11-20 Thread annonygmouse
Package: dhclient
Severity: grave
Tags: security
Justification: user security hole

Hi, I do not know since when does this happen because I didn't need
a reboot for a while... anyway, It's recent.
The dhclient-script has a bug getting the kernel's majornumber.
On line 76 it states:
relmajor=`echo $relmajor | sed 's/^[0-9]*\.\([0-9]*\)\..*/\1/'`

where it should be:
relmajor=`echo $release | sed 's/^[0-9]*\.\([0-9]*\)\..*/\1/'`

Easy to solve, but it raises this bash errors:
/etc/dhclient-script: line 108: [: -lt: unary operator expected
/etc/dhclient-script: line 108: [: -eq: unary operator expected

Anyway it still works, so maybe is not _that_ bad...

Sebastià.

Change apt.conf and use testing.

Install openoffice.

Now I have openoffice 1.4 again in my machine.

That did the trick :)
Maybe this helps anyone.

The only way I can run k3b (k3bsetup has allways worked) is to
download the source, compile and copy the k3b binary to /usr/bin.
I've seen in another k3b bug report (#288860) an strace and have seen
that what k3b can't reach is:
set_thread_area({entry_number:-1 - 6, base_addr:0x41cfbfa0,
limit:1048575, seg_32bit:1, contents:0, read_exec_only:0,
limit_in_pages:1, seg_not_present:0, useable:1}) = 0
munmap(0x40018000, 85239) = 0
set_tid_address(0x41cfbfe8) = 5598
rt_sigaction(SIGRTMIN, {0x413695d0, [], SA_SIGINFO}, NULL, 8) = 0
rt_sigprocmask(SIG_UNBLOCK, [RTMIN], NULL, 8) = 0
getrlimit(RLIMIT_STACK, {rlim_cur=8192*1024, rlim_max=RLIM_INFINITY}) = 0
brk(0) = 0x8189000
brk(0x81aa000) = 0x81aa000
getcwd(/home/novosma, 4096) = 14
uname({sys=Linux, node=privatemn, ...}) = 0
socket(PF_FILE, SOCK_STREAM, 0) = 3+
etc.

I've tried to uninstall via: apt-get remove --purge k3b k3blibs
k3blibs-dev k3b-i18n
and afterwards install and the problem persists.

Any idea of what is happening?
When running the compiled binary it runs:
open(/usr/lib/libexpat.so.1, O_RDONLY) = 3

so... any idea of what's happening?
