Bug#1006986: nam: no window

2022-03-09 Thread clohr
Package: nam
Version: 1.15-5.2
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

nam does not work anymore
No way to get its usual window.

A simple test from ns2:
$ ns
% nam
nam:
child process exited abnormally
%

I do not get the usual nam window.
I just get this error message.

How to get more information about the issue?
How to investigate?

Best regards.
Christophe

Bug#962343: colord: incompatibility between 'colord' and 'VNC'?

2020-06-06 Thread clohr
Package: colord
Version: 1.4.4-2
Severity: minor
Tags: upstream

Dear Maintainer,
Each time I open my MATE session remotely (via VNC), I get two popup asking
me to re-enter my password for colord
System Color Manager
org.freedesktop.color-manager-create-profile
org.freedesktop.color-manager.create-device

When I googling this bug I can see workarounds proposing to trick policykit.
So, I wonder if this is the right way to fix it.
Is it just the matter of a misconfigured policykit file in the package, or
something more complicated such as a lacking profile for the vnc display?

Best regards
Christophe

Bug#730862: gdm3 fails with the Oh No! Something went wrong message with Xephyr and vncserver

2013-11-30 Thread clohr
Package: gdm3
Version: 3.8.4-6
Severity: normal
Tags: upstream

Dear Maintainer,
*** Please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

gdm3 works well on a real display. However I get the Oh No! Something went
wrong message when I use it with Xephyr or vncserver.
(I use GDM 3.8.4)

To get the problem:
1) edit /etc/gdm3/daemon.conf to add
[xdmcp]
Enable = true
2) then do:
   Xephyr -query localhost :1

Best regards
Christophe

Bug#652279: gnome-shell: Crash on xsetroot -cursor_name ....

2011-12-15 Thread clohr
Package: gnome-shell
Version: 3.0.2-8
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,
*** Please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

The plain old xsetroot command seems to cause hazardous effects.

First, try xsetroot -cursor_name cross (or another cursor name).
The windows are flashing, but we get the selected cursor.
Try again one or two times, then gnome-shell crash.

Christophe

Bug#587302: evolution: Forced offline by error

2010-06-27 Thread clohr
Package: evolution
Version: 2.30.1.2-3
Severity: normal

Evolution assumes that Network Manager is the only way to have network on a
system. Note that interfaces can either be managed by /etc/network/interfaces
or by Network Manager. However, if interfaces managed by NM are disconected,
Evo thinks there is no network at all, and start offline. Moreover, it refuses
to switch to online mode, eaven if the user requests it.

Possible workarround: before using Evo in online mode, plase ask first your
system administrator to disable Network Manager, or to unisnstall it. ;-)

Bug#587325: evolution: Forced offline by error

2010-06-27 Thread clohr
Package: evolution
Version: 2.30.1.2-3
Severity: normal
Tags: upstream

Evolution assumes that Network Manager is the only way to have network on a
system. Note that interfaces can be managed by /etc/network/interfaces,
or by Network Manager, or by a VPN, or something else.

If NM is active and interfaces managed by NM are disconected, Evo thinks there
is no network at all, and start offline. Moreover, it refuses to switch to
online mode, eaven if the user requests it.

Possible workarround: before using Evo in online mode, please first ask your
system administrator to disable Network Manager, or to unisnstall it. ;-)

If it is realy mandatory to test status of interfaces before all, please
consider another way (ip link show up | grep -v -i loopback).
Then, Evo may /suggest/ to start offline. The user should have the ability to
change to online mode at any time.

Regards.
