Bug#456227: sphinxsearch debian package
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Hi Marco, I really hope I'm not intruding on your packaging efforts. I actually started to package sphinxsearch and then noticed you'd already filed an ITP long beforehand, and were well on the way to getting a package sponsored. Hi! You're right.. it looks dead because people didn't have much time. I followed the thread through on the ITP and noticed it's been some time since the original ITP was filed and we don't yet have sphinxsearch in Sid. Is there anything I can do to help - I know you mentioned you've been busy so I'd be more than happy to work with you on packaging for debian and ubuntu, and happy to take an active role if you aren't able to, or just to provide assistance as needed. Please let me know where I can be of use, so we can get this package sponsored (My business uses sphinx on a regular basis, and from a sysadmin perspective, it makes sense to get it into the stock repositories) There is already some packaging stuff done at launchpad.net, you could get the branch using: bzr branch lp:pkg-sphinx Try to do some patches for it, and if they're fine people will add you as team member, so you have the right to commit yourself. Is there anything specific preventing it from being packaged? I can see straight off some lintian warnings that I resolved so I can patch those in if you'd like? Else let me know of anything holding up going into debian/ubuntu and I'll work on those. Hi! I really don't know the state of the package in that repository, but if you can fix the lintian warnings, that would be good. I think other team members could help you more than I. Marco, I have packaging done for the C version of alarm-clock, however after talking with upstream it seems like for now the Python version should be left in Debian. Once upstream releases the C version as a stable release I will have my package uploaded. Hi!
