Bug#999771: debian-installer: netcfg gives "Invalid passphrase" before asking for one

2021-12-19 Thread Junk
Sure, I can provide you with my preseed file - tomorrow, it's 11pm here now.

However, this is before I've provided it to the system. This happens when
trying to configure the network. I don't enter the URL for the preseed file
until after configuring the network...

Bug#905674: parallel: move to nonfree

2018-09-10 Thread junk 77011
i haven't installed the latest version, but from
https://www.gnu.org/software/parallel/man.html

> If you do not want to help financing future development by letting other
users see the citation notice or by paying, then please use another tool
instead of GNU parallel

i'm not enough of a laywer to definitively interpret "please" in that
context, but my understanding is that generally it's taken as a required as
opposed to optional. i'm assuming the verbage in the current source matches
the website, but i haven't attempted to verify that

Bug#905674: parallel: move to nonfree

2018-08-07 Thread junk 77011
Package: parallel
Version: 20141022
Severity: normal

usage of parallel requires agreeing to a click-wrap that is inconsistent
with the DFSG. it should be moved to non-free

DFSG:
"The license must not restrict anyone from making use of the program in a
specific field of endeavor"

parallell --bibtex:
"When using programs that use GNU Parallel to process data for publication
please cite:
...
Or you can get GNU Parallel without this requirement by paying 1 EUR.
...
Type: 'will cite' and press enter."

Bug#882732: powerpc net installer stalling at 16% in "install software"

2017-11-26 Thread junk
I forgot to mention that when the installer asked for a mirror, it can't
find one
with the daily files, so it uses sid-unstable instead.

when it stalls, with the hard drive still busy (I can hear it),
on ctrl-alt-F4 it displays a log. the last 4 lines being:

pkgsel: starting tasksel
in-target: Reading package lists...
in-target:
in-target: Building dependency tree...

on ctrl-alt-F2, I type ps, the last line says:
apt-get - o APT::Status-Fd=4 -o APT::Keep-Fds::5 -o ..

Bug#882732: powerpc net installer stalling at 16% in "install software"

2017-11-26 Thread junk
Package: installation-reports

Boot method: network
Image version:
https://d-i.debian.org/daily-images/powerpc/daily/powerpc/netboot/mini.iso
Date: 6 AM BELGIUM

Machine: apple ibook g3 clamshell
Processor: g3
Memory: 160mb
Partitions: entire disk

Output of lspci -knn (or lspci -nn):

Comments/Problems: the installation stalls just after asking you to
choose a desktop environement. I chose to install nothing (no desktop
and not even the standard utilities). Just after I answered this
question it makes noise with the hard drive, but does nothing for
hours. the problem was already present with the previous daily net
installer for powerpc.

rebooting leads to an ALERT: UUID=010ef35f-b3bc-4f8a-b384-1b2e614837dc
does not exist.

(this machine was booting perfectly with the jessie powerpc net installer)

Bug#844473: Update nginx module nchan to 1.0.6

2016-11-15 Thread junk
Package: nginx
Version: 1.10.2-2

I'm the author of Nchan and I've released a new version with some
important bugfixes, security fixes, and new features. It would be nice
if the Nginx package could be updated to the latest version, 1.0.6

https://nchan.slact.net/changelog

Changes since 1.0.2 (current version in the Debian package):

1.0.6 (Nov. 15 2016)
fix: large messages were sometimes incorrectly cleaned up, leaving
behind temp files
fix: file descriptor leak when listening on a unix socket and suddenly
aborting client connections
fix: invalid memory access after reloading twice with redis enabled
fix: crash after shutting down nginx when 'master_process' set to 'off'
change: nchan_max_channel_subscribers now always refers to subscribers
on this instance of Nchan, even when using Redis.
 feature: subscribe/unsubscribe callbacks with nchan_subscribe_request
and nchan_unsubscribe_request
1.0.4 (Oct. 28 2016)
security: fix crash when receiving large messages over websocket with
ws+nchan subprotocol
1.0.3 (Sept. 3 2016)
feature: nchan_message_timeout and nchan_message_buffer_length can now
use nginx variables for dynamic values
fix: unsolicited websocket PONGs disconnected the subscriber in
violation of RFC6455
fix: possible script error when getting channel from Redis
fix: possible incorrect message IDs when using Redis (thanks @supertong)
security: possible invalid memory access on publisher GET, POST, or
DELETE when using Redis and the publisher connection is terminated
before receiving a response
fix: correct publisher response code when nchan_authorize_request is
unavailable (502 instead of 500)
security: crash if publisher POSTs request with no Content-Length
header when using nchan_authorize_request

Thanks,
   Leo P.

Bug#508527: 2.6.26-11 oops on initial NIC (via-velocity) setup

2008-12-26 Thread junk mail
I had the same issue, the kernel would oops as soon as it loaded the via
driver (every time). I did not pull patches out of git, as was requested of
the original bug submitter, I just pulled the via-velocity.(c|h) out of
2.6.28, and diffed them against what was in debian's 2.6.26 source package.
It did not look like anything would prevent the newer version from being
used, so I replaced the via-velocity.* files in the debian source package.

Works great, so far. So, the bug does appear to be an upstream one, that
has been fixed.

I did this before reading the bug report, but not sure those patches in git
would address the issue. Unless I am reading things wrong, it looks like
they were committed before 2.6.26 was released.

Bug#454205: xserver-xorg: X hangs on ALT-TAB or pull-down menu use with xorg and icewm

2007-12-04 Thread Junk Mail
I don't know where, exactly, but perhaps I can provide clues with my
clueless observation:

If I hold down alt, I can continue tabbing through the list, but
when I let go, the CPU usage spikes and the console becomes inaccessible.
