Bug#999771: debian-installer: netcfg gives "Invalid passphrase" before asking for one
Sure, I can provide you with my preseed file - tomorrow, it's 11pm here now. However, this is before I've provided it to the system. This happens when trying to configure the network. I don't enter the URL for the preseed file until after configuring the network... /Jonas Bygdén > 19 dec. 2021 kl. 23:00 skrev Holger Wansing : > > Hi, > > Jonas Bygden wrote (Tue, 16 Nov 2021 14:02:05 +0100): >> * What was the outcome of this action? >> "Invalid passphrase" 'The WPA/WPA2 PSK passphrase was either too long (more >> than 64 characters) or too short (less than 8 characters).' >> Screenshot: https://bygden.nu/tmp/IMG_6212.jpeg >> * What outcome did you expect instead? >> Network to be configured. > > > > Jonas Bygden wrote (Tue, 16 Nov 2021 17:39:29 +0100): >> This does *not* happen when booting and installing normally from the same >> ISO, only when selecting Advanced Option -> Automatic install - both >> Graphical and Curses installers. > > So, if you use the "Automatic install" entry from the installer's boot > menu, you are using preseeding? Bug#905674: parallel: move to nonfree
i haven't installed the latest version, but from https://www.gnu.org/software/parallel/man.html > If you do not want to help financing future development by letting other users see the citation notice or by paying, then please use another tool instead of GNU parallel i'm not enough of a laywer to definitively interpret "please" in that context, but my understanding is that generally it's taken as a required as opposed to optional. i'm assuming the verbage in the current source matches the website, but i haven't attempted to verify that On Mon, Sep 10, 2018 at 8:27 PM, Stefan Monnier wrote: > > usage of parallel requires agreeing to a click-wrap that is inconsistent > > with the DFSG. it should be moved to non-free > [...] > > parallell --bibtex: > > "When using programs that use GNU Parallel to process data for > publication > > please cite: > > ... > > Or you can get GNU Parallel without this requirement by paying 1 EUR. > > ... > > Type: 'will cite' and press enter." > > Apparently this was changed in the mean time to a wording that makes it > clear it's only a polite request and not a legal requirement. > > So, AFAICT it doesn't conflict with the DFSG (at least, not any more). > > > Stefan >
Bug#905674: parallel: move to nonfree
Package: parallel Version: 20141022 Severity: normal usage of parallel requires agreeing to a click-wrap that is inconsistent with the DFSG. it should be moved to non-free DFSG: "The license must not restrict anyone from making use of the program in a specific field of endeavor" parallell --bibtex: "When using programs that use GNU Parallel to process data for publication please cite: ... Or you can get GNU Parallel without this requirement by paying 1 EUR. ... Type: 'will cite' and press enter."
Bug#882732: powerpc net installer stalling at 16% in "install software"
I forgot to mention that when the installer asked for a mirror, it can't find one with the daily files, so it uses sid-unstable instead. when it stalls, with the hard drive still busy (I can hear it), on ctrl-alt-F4 it displays a log. the last 4 lines being: pkgsel: starting tasksel in-target: Reading package lists... in-target: in-target: Building dependency tree... on ctrl-alt-F2, I type ps, the last line says: apt-get - o APT::Status-Fd=4 -o APT::Keep-Fds::5 -o .. I chose to install nothing (no desktop and not even the standard utilities). Just after I answered this question it makes noise with the hard drive, but does nothing for hours. the problem was already present with the previous daily net installer for powerpc. rebooting leads to an ALERT: UUID=010ef35f-b3bc-4f8a-b384-1b2e614837dc does not exist. Bug#508527: 2.6.26-11 oops on initial NIC (via-velocity) setup
I had the same issue, the kernel would oops as soon as it loaded the via driver (every time). I did not pull patches out of git, as was requested of the original bug submitter, I just pulled the via-velocity.(c|h) out of 2.6.28, and diffed them against what was in debian's 2.6.26 source package. It did not look like anything would prevent the newer version from being used, so I replaced the via-velocity.* files in the debian source package. Works great, so far. So, the bug does appear to be an upstream one, that has been fixed. I did this before reading the bug report, but not sure those patches in git would address the issue. Unless I am reading things wrong, it looks like they were committed before 2.6.26 was released. g

Bug#454205: xserver-xorg: X hangs on ALT-TAB or pull-down menu use with xorg and icewm
I don't know where, exactly, but perhaps I can provide clues with my clueless observation: If I hold down alt, I can continue tabbing through the list, but when I let go, the CPU usage spikes and the console becomes inaccessible.
