I'd like to point out that package in fact depends on file(1)
and when that package isnt installed py3status fails with an error.

Since on a freshly installed Debian system file package is not an
essential, this dependency should be explicitly listed.

Bug#699543: FTBFS: circular dependencies w/ xemacs21 source package

2013-02-01 Thread Alessandro -oggei- Ogier
Package: xemacs21-packages
Version: 2009.02.17.dfsg.1
Severity: serious

Hi,

at the moment it is impossible to compile packages in a clean
wheezy environment (eg. pbuilder) because circular deps between this
and xemacs21 packages.

From my pbuilder log:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
 xemacs21-mule : Depends: xemacs21-mulesupport (= 2003.04.23-1) which is a
virtual package.
 Depends: xemacs21-basesupport (= 2003.04.23-1) which is a
virtual package.

(I'd like to compile just because mulesupport and basesupport aren't currently
in wheezy
and I need an xemacs)

Bug#687968: New upstream version

2012-09-17 Thread Alessandro -oggei- Ogier
Package: cufflinks
Version: 1.3.0-2
Severity: wishlist
Tags: patch

Hi team,

here at European Institute of Oncology we managed to upgrade
cufflinks packaging to 2.0.2 version (current stable), starting
from your good work.
Here is the changelog:

 * New upstream release
 * Adding libeigen3-dev to Build-Depends
 * Hardened build
 * Fixed autoconf stuff (eigen-related)
 * Parallel compile

We attach the relevant patch, we would be glad if you could
consider to adopt and release new version in debian.

Bests,

ale

Bug#672923: openvpn: /etc/network/if-up.d/ hook placement breaks ifupdown

2012-05-14 Thread alessandro -oggei- ogier
Package: openvpn
Version: 2.2.1-8
Severity: normal

Hi, I can't find a way for setting up an ip-less openvpn on which make, later,
a dhcp request, eg:

iface tap1 inet dhcp
pre-up openvpn --mktun --dev tap1  /dev/null
pre-up ifconfig tap1 hw ether `cat /root/.macs/tap1`
post-down openvpn --rmtun --dev tap1  /dev/null
openvpn mono-tap

I found that putting hook in pre-up.d does the trick and does not break
ifupdown dhcp capabilities.

Thank you, cheers

Bug#563732: wmii: patch - add 9base support

2010-01-04 Thread alessandro -oggei- ogier
Package: wmii
Version: 3.6+debian-7
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

Hi, i would like to submit a patch that rend wmii usable with 9base
currently in debian.

Two files should be fixed:

 * config.mk doesn't include debian 9base path. This makes
   /usr/bin/wmii9rc to fail at line 12.
   I'm attaching what i think is the most sensible solution.
 * plan9's rc invocation in wmii9rc is wrong, apparently rc need an
   absolute path for working properly so i stolen from
   /usr/bin/wmiistartrc the which trick ;)

HTH, thank you

Bug#496599: amavisd-new: amavisd-nanny looks for db in wrong place

2008-08-25 Thread alessandro -oggei- ogier
Package: amavisd-new
Version: 1:2.6.1.dfsg-1
Severity: normal

The bug is probably upstream, anyway as per title:

# amavisd-nanny
No nanny database /var/amavis/db/nanny.db; waiting...

and in fact:

# grep var/amavis /usr/sbin/amavisd-nanny
  defined $ENV{'AMAVISD_DB_HOME'} ? $ENV{'AMAVISD_DB_HOME'} : '/var/amavis/db';

setting env var obviously works.

Bug#476841: pdns-recursor: recursor behavious changed upstream

2008-04-19 Thread alessandro -oggei- ogier
Package: pdns-recursor
Version: 3.1.5-1
Severity: important

As http://doc.powerdns.com/built-in-recursor.html states, starting from
3.15 recursor behavious changes significantly, adding a default dont-query
for rfc1918 ranges:

Apr 19 16:01:37 scotch pdns_recursor[18453]: Will not send queries to:

as this can really breaks pre 3.15 setups, IMHO a postinst warning
should be presented to the user.

Bug#476704: openvpn: can't shed privileges if using connect-script

2008-04-18 Thread alessandro -oggei- ogier
Package: openvpn
Version: 2.1~rc7-1
Severity: important

In a low privilege, dynamic setup with:

...
user nobody
client-connect some-script.sh

current (and maybe previous) openvpn sheds privileges before executing
script. But unfortunately, path on script's $1 is relative to his pwd.

So in debian, with daemon started per default on --cd /etc/openvpn, this
option become unusable unless i override it with explicit --cd in my
conf file.

I'm also not so happy to have nobody generated config snippets on /tmp,
so i'd rather prefer a /var/run/openvpn owned by openvpn user, where
write temporary conf files.

In any case, i think this can have a note on README.Debian, making
easier to understand for client-connect wannabes like me :P

   We don't add Depends to pull bug fixes; just upgrade your EDS
   installation.

I obviously did it. But this isn't the point.

I got an upgrade that, for some local pinning, has not complained about
upgrading just my evolution to 2.12.3-1, leaving EDS to your 1.12.2-1,
leaving the system *non working*.

After that, for #461312 i got to recompile EDS and i have now a working
evolution with data-server 1.12.2-1.

So maybe is just to consider an EDS -2 MU linked against correct ldap
libs, and working after upgrades, that was just my 2c: from my point of
view, the whole remains potentially broken, at the moment.

 Well, as Loic said, upgrade to 2.12.3-1.

Well, as I said, package evolution 2.12.3-1 (against which i opened
the bug, indeed), permits to retain the package evolution-data-server
in the version currently in lenny (because depends evolution-data-server

Bug#461774: amule-daemon initd should respect LSB

 Hello alessandro,

  init.d script return 1 if stopping an already stopped / not running
  daemon, this breaks autogenerated prerm script.

 The current amule-daemon init script does that, you can check. If you
 can see any mistake about that in the script, please don't hesitate to
 write back.

The current init script returns 1, and it's wrong.

Evidence that return 1, taken from /etc/init.d/amule-daemon:

do_stop()
{
# Return
# 0 if daemon has been stopped
# 1 if daemon was already stopped
# 2 if daemon could not be stopped
start-stop-daemon --stop --quiet --retry=TERM/30/KILL/5 --exec
$DAEMON --user $AMULED_USER --chuid $AMULED_USER
return $?
}

Point where it breaks, aka /var/lib/dpkg/info/amule-daemon.prerm:

#!/bin/sh
set -e
# Automatically added by dh_installinit
if [ -x /etc/init.d/amule-daemon ]; then
if [ -x `which invoke-rc.d 2/dev/null` ]; then
invoke-rc.d amule-daemon stop || exit $?
else
/etc/init.d/amule-daemon stop || exit $?
fi
fi
# End automatically added section

Evidence that it breaks:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ LANG=C sudo apt-get remove --purge amule-daemon
[...]
Removing amule-daemon ...
invoke-rc.d: initscript amule-daemon, action stop failed.
dpkg: error processing amule-daemon (--purge):

dpkg: error while cleaning up:
 subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Errors were encountered while processing:

E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

Currently, a quick fix is to remove /etc/default/amule-daemon, obviously
it's only a dirty workaround.

Bug#447031: simple-cdd: nasty bug in isolinux.cfg customization

2007-10-17 Thread alessandro -oggei- ogier
Package: simple-cdd
Version: 0.3.5
Severity: important

Hi, i isolated a strange bug that occurs if one choose to set a
BOOT_TIMEOUT in isolinux.cfg.

at /usr/share/simple-cdd/tools/build/debian-cd, line 40, we have:

if [ -n $BOOT_TIMEOUT ]; then
sed -ie s,TIMEOUT.*,TIMEOUT $BOOT_TIMEOUT,g $isolinuxcfg
fi

so if you set it, you will now have a new file ${isolinuxcfg}e

but, i think for a mkisofs design, during debian-cd's image target execution:

mkisofs -r -V Debian unstable i386 Bin-1 -o
/home/oggei/dev/vobe-cd/images/debian-unstable-i386-CD-1.iso -J -cache-inodes
-b isolinux/isolinux.bin -c isolinux/boot.cat -no-emul-boot -boot-load-size 4
-boot-info-table boot1 CD1
I: -input-charset not specified, using utf-8 (detected in locale settings)
Using ISOLI000.CFG;1 for  boot1/isolinux/isolinux.cfg (isolinux.cfge)
[...]

so the image will have the semi-original isolinux.cfge, and no timeout or other
bells'n'whistles.

The nastiness is that on the 9660 part of the gen iso you in fact have:

/cdrom/isolinux/isolinux.cfg
/cdrom/isolinux/isolinux.cfge

so one may think that isolinux got proper configuration.

I think it would suffice to remove suffix letter from that sed invocation.

HTH,

I was expecting the detailed configuration file to contain everything
related the configuration of simple-cdd, but eg mirror_components is
missing. Maybe other things can get updated (CONF.sh, that i read on
mailing list is no longer used, and so on).

I'm currently working to an heavy customization, so i can volunteer to
make a brand new one with all the relevant parts if it's useful.

example:

Mar 28 14:58:51 lattepiu /usr/bin/nfcapd[3089]: Can't execvp:

and with:

DAEMON_ARGS=-w -t 300 -p 5000 -l /home/netflow/ -D -u nfcapd -g nfcapd
-x /home/netflow/stuff/process.sh %f

Mar 28 14:59:38 lattepiu /usr/bin/nfcapd[4605]: Launcher: run command:
'/home/netflow/stuff/process.sh'
