Bug#414092: airport-utils 2-8

2023-07-10 Thread Ricky Ricardo
Hello. I have the same problem as reported on message #5 of this bug report.
I am using a Raspberry Pi Model 4B with Raspberry Pi OS (most recent
version, 32-bit).

I installed the airport-utils 2-8 from the repository.
Installation was okay, but when running airport-config from the terminal
nothing happened.

Would like these utilities to work so that I can re-configure an old Apple
Airport Express (or Extreme?) unit.

Thanks,
Rick

Subject: Update debian patches for enabling git-updates.diff in
gcc-12-12.2.0-14 and 17

Dear,

The patch git-updates.diff including bug fixes from release/gcc-12 branch have
not been enabled in rules.patch, for gcc-12-12.2.0-14 and -17 (sid and exp).
( see
https://salsa.debian.org/toolchain-team/gcc/-/blob/gcc-12-debian/debian/rules.patch
 line 15~17 )

To enable git-updates.diff, some of debian patches need to be updated :

debian/patches/gcc-distro-specs.diff
and
debian/patches/gcc-multilib-multiarch.diff

I made a patch to update these debian patches, so that the build of
gcc-12-12.2.0-14 and -17 work normally, and PR 106322 is included.

$ file -b debian-9.7.0-amd64-DVD-3.iso
ISO 9660 CD-ROM filesystem data 'Debian 9.7.0 amd64 3'

and which has been written to an external flash drive relying on that
command

$ dd if=debian-9.7.0-amd64-DVD-3.iso of=/dev/sdc bs=4M oflag=direct && sync

could not even be launched at boot due to error message:

while a Live ISO image debian-live-9.7.0-amd64-gnome.iso with those
properties could

$ file -b debian-live-9.7.0-amd64-gnome.iso

Bug#922548: Pointer is not movable

2019-02-17 Thread Ricky Tigg
Package: cdimage.debian.org

Hi. While a Live ISO image debian-live-9.7.0-amd64-gnome.iso with those
properties

$ file -b debian-live-9.7.0-amd64-gnome.iso
DOS/MBR boot sector; partition 2 : ID=0xef, start-CHS (0x3ff,254,63),
end-CHS (0x3ff,254,63), startsector 1416, 832 sectors

has been written to an external flash drive relying on command *dd,* and
once media was booted from BIOS, Debian installation steps had to rely
exclusively on the use of arrows in order to be operational, since the
pointer did not respond to invocations; it stayed at its default position,
centred onto the screen.

 After this, I rebooted the laptop and the plymouth theme was loading just
fine. Even though the terminal said “Unable to locate package

same message after I update-initramfs -u:

 I reboot with out using apt-get install firmware-linux-nonfree and the

 Now when I fallow the same process ASUS M2N-SLI desktop computer, I
don't get a missing firmware warning as shown below:

 The strange thing about this is when rebooting the system, the
plymouth theme doesn't Load. I can't figure it out.

after I booted up the “Debian 8 Jessie DI-rc3 installer

“Advanced Options” in the installation menu and the “Alternative

forgot to put it back in? PS. Was trying to install Debian-7.8.0
AMD64 DVD (Wheezy) using the KDE Alternative Desktop Environment at
http://cdimage.debian.org/debian-cd/7.8.0/amd64/bt-dvd/debian-7.8.0-amd64-DVD-1.iso.torrent,
and it had a problem with the video card or monitor. When booting up,
it did fine up to the point of the login screen and then it was just
black. Worked fine on the desktop I have, just not on the Acer laptop.
I heard that you upgraded the firmware and drivers in Debian Jessie
including non-free firmware so I wanted to give it a shot. Booted up
just fine. But when I went to the Advanced Options to change the
Alternative Desktop Environment to KDE, that option wasn't there.

Bug#765460: gnome-shell-extensions: apps-menu extension not working after upgrade to 3.14

2014-10-15 Thread ricky
Package: gnome-shell-extensions
Version: 3.14.0-2
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

Some days ago my testing laptop was upgraded to gnome-shell 3.14 (and
extensions package too) and the apps-menu extension appeared in error state.
After restarting the shell with the replace argument:

$ gnome-shell --replace

I understood that the extension did not work because the GMenu package was
missing. As soon as I installed the following package:

# apt-get install gir1.2-gmenu-3.0

The shell loaded the extension correctly. I suppose that some dependency is
broken (I do not know what was the status of this package before the upgrade).

Thanks in advance!

Bug#736064: iceweasel: getUserMedia is not working

2014-01-19 Thread ricky
Package: iceweasel
Version: 26.0-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

I have been waiting for a long time the version 24 in testing to have
getUserMedia. Today the iceweasel package was updated to 24.2.0esr-1 but
getUserMedia is not working. I have upgraded to experimental 26.0-1 and the
result is the same. I have tested with a slighly modified version of this demo:

http://www.arungudelli.com/Tools/HTML5/GoogleEffects/ScreenShot.htm

And the problem is that navigator.getUserMedia function never calls the
onSuccess or onFailure callbacks. The dialog to request access to the camera is
not even displayed.

I have tested with the firefox counterpart directly and the results are mixed:

- firefox esr 24.2.0: The dialog requesting the camera is displayed and the
canvas starts reproducing the local video, but it is garbled.
- Current firefox 26.0: Everything works well (dialog is requested, video
correctly shown).

But the big difference between iceweasel and firefox is that firefox always
calls the callbacks and the video is reproduced (although in 24 esr it is
garbled).

There is a similar bug:

#702473 TypeError: window.navigator.mozGetUserMedia is not a function

But it is not the same cos now the getUserMedia function exists and it is
called but it is not working, callbacks are never called.

Thanks!

Bug#724603: live-boot: BOOTIF option not used dependant on NETBOOT being empty

2013-09-25 Thread Ricky Chan

Package: live-boot
Version: 3.0.1-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

1. BOOTIF option not used.
in file: 9990-networking.sh, line 57 there should be this change:
DEVICE=${device##*/}
change to
ETHDEVICE=${device##*/}

As you can see by the subsequent logic, it will basically ignore this
setting and on a multi-interface

system possibily use the wrong interface to do ipconfig.

2. For BOOTIF to be used, it must pass (on line 15 of 9990-networking.sh):q!

if [ -z ${NETBOOT} ]  [ -z ${FETCH} ]  [ -z ${HTTPFS}
]  [ -z ${FTPFS} ]
This will mean typical FAI setup's will as typically root will be set to
root=/dev/nfs and in the script's this will always set

NETBOOT to nfs and hence BOOTIF won't be used.
BOOTIF should be considered even if NETBOOT is not empty.

By making these modification I can confirm typical FAI setup are working
where multiple network interface exists.

Same problem. Fresh install of Wheezy, KDE 4.8.4, cups installated.

system-config-printer WORKS, and i can add new printers
system-config-printer-kde DOES NOT WORK and crashes

In Kubuntu 12.04 there isn't this problem, but it uses KDE 4.8.2.

Sorry for my bad english...
I've the same problem, which DIDN'T appear in the ALPHA release. This bug is
shown only in the BETA WHEEZY release.
If there is a non-free firmware, the installer stopped the installation.
A solution can be insert a USB pendrive with the firmwares, it works for me.

Please, solve this bug, it's very important in my opinion.

Bug#683246: Installation of libgssglue1 renders armel system unbootable

2012-07-30 Thread Ricky Ng-Adam
Package: libgssglue1

dependency (libgssglue1) fails to install. Every subsequent operation
leads to a Segmentation fault and an error at system boot. Reverting
the changes introduced by the installation of this package fixes the
problem.

Bug#681457: libaudit: does not actually support ARM, breaks linked binary like readahead

2012-07-13 Thread Ricky Ng-Adam
Package: libaudit0
Version: 1:1.7.18-1.1
Severity: normal
File: libaudit

Dear Maintainer,

While trying to figure out why readahead collector fails with:

readahead-collector: cannot insert audit rules

I seem to have tracked down the problem to libaudit (and libaudit-dev)

auditctl (from auditd package) doesn't work on the ARM machine:

# auditctl -a exit,always -S open -S truncate -F success=0
Error detecting machine type

String it's failing on (our own machine):

Linux lophilo1 3.4.0-rc7+ #19 Fri Jul 13 17:24:39 CST 2012
armv5tejl GNU/Linux

More specifically, does not support this machine type:

# uname -m
armv5tejl

The chain of calls:

audit-1.7.18/lib/libaudit.c:audit_rule_syscallbyname_data

if (!audit_elf)
machine = audit_detect_machine();
else
machine = audit_elf_to_machine(audit_elf);

this is:

int audit_detect_machine(void)
{
struct utsname uts;
if (uname(uts) == 0)
//  strcpy(uts.machine, x86_64);
return audit_name_to_machine(uts.machine);
return -1;
}

...and audit-1.7.18/lib/lookup_table.c:audit_name_to_machine

int audit_name_to_machine(const char *machine)
{
int res;

if (machine_s2i(machine, res) != 0)
return res;
return -1;
}

I believe this package need to upgrade to 1.8 to properly support ARM:

https://fedorahosted.org/audit/browser/branches/1.8/lib/lookup_table.c

Bug#301435: Multiple disks in partman ( #301435)

2011-06-22 Thread Ricky Charlet
Howdy,
I can't seem to find out what became of bug #301435
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=301435.

I have a keen interest in its resolution. I very much need to preseed,
partition two disks (sda and sdb) and mount them as

/dev/sda1   /
/dev/sdb1   /var
/dev/sdb2   /tmp
/dev/sdb3   /my-stuff
/dev/sdb4   swap

I have not found any expert-recipie magic to allow this. Currently, I'm
about to cut out the partman scripts and replace them with a script to do what
I want. But I may be willing to sponsor a project (yes, with money) to add this
feature to partman (or document it if this can already be done somehow in
partman)

Bug#580610: chromium-browser: Support for HTML5 video tag?

2010-05-07 Thread ricky
Package: chromium-browser
Version: 5.0.342.9~r43360-1
Severity: normal

Hi,

I have just installed chromium-browser from experimental and it works quite
well. But I have seen no video tag is understood. For example if you go to this
link:

http://people.mozilla.com/~prouget/demos/simpleVideo/video.html

Which is a ogg html5 video, the page results in:

Sorry, your browser does not support the video element.

I checked (http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=36589) chromium
supports ogg html5 video, so I have decided to open a bug. I do not know if
debian chromium is going to support h264 but I suppose ogg is in your plans.

It is good to see chromium-browser in debian.

Good job guys and thanks.

Bug#548545: it seems fixed

2009-12-06 Thread ricky
This problem i also reported seems fixed now in Debian testing. I
noticed that when bash-completion was upgraded to 1:1.1-3 so the bug was
in bash-completion and not bash... Looking bash-completion package the
bug 544024 (cannot complete path if path component contains spaces) can
be the cause (which was fixed in the commented version). So please you
can proceed to close this one.

Thank you all.

Bug#517401: rhythmbox last.fm plugin skipping songs

2009-02-27 Thread ricky
Package: rhythmbox
Version: 0.11.6-1
Severity: normal

A few days ago the rhythmbox last.fm plugin stopped working, rhythmbox
downloads correctly the playlist but after that no one song (or just the first
one) is played. It's skipping the tracks all the time in any station you choose.

I've investigated this issue and I've found some links:

* http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=6807590
* https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=487671

As you see, same issue on other linux distributions. So maybe it's some last.fm
change in recent days.

TIA

0) changed system locale with `dpkg-reconfigure locales` from
en_US.ISO8859-1 to ca_EN.UTF-8

1) created a text file with accented characters:

2) verified that this is an UTF-8 using `file`

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ file eacute-utf8.txt
eacute-utf8.txt: UTF-8 Unicode text

3) notice that the output is incorrect when opening UTF-8 file with
kwrite and kate:

ééééééééé

4) With the File Open dialog, I can see at the top right that the
editor currently expects iso8859-1 files

5) if I just start the kwrite, File Open also expects iso8859-1
instead of utf-8

6) The config file for kwrite contains the line `Encoding=ISO 8859-1`.
Deleting the file ~/.kde/share/config/kwriterc corrects the problem.

7) more:

share/apps/kate/metainfos:Encoding=ISO 8859-1
share/apps/kate/metainfos:Encoding=ISO 8859-1
share/config/katerc:Encoding=ISO 8859-1
share/config/kilerc:Encoding=ISO 8859-1
share/config/quantarc:Default encoding=ISO 8859-1

Should it be necessary to manually delete the file? Why does it keep an
Encoding directive?

Bug#263143: memtest86+ to grub menu.lst: me too

2005-02-09 Thread Ricky Ng-Adam
I'd just like to add my name to this wish and bump it up a notch. It
is easy to add it manually to the menu.lst, but we are going to have
10's of users and I'd like to have this entirely automated so I just
have to tell them to reboot and select memtest86+ from the grub menu.
It would make it so much more easier, and we've had so many problems
recently with bad memory that this is going to become part of our
standard install procedure...

Yes, partway through the scan.

An example:

1) at the command-line, type

klinkstatus

2) in the URL: field, type:

www.wired.com

3) Click on the Check button.

4) Right after #3, go to the File-Quit using the mouse

Maybe there is a dependant software that is not present?

Mount CDROM using KwikDisk
In Konqueror, try to eject disk -

KDE Eject - KDialog
Eject /dev/hdc failed!

at this point, the cdrom is umounted but won't eject.

to get around this, need to kill kio_audio:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/src$ kill `lsof -t /dev/hdc`

(cdrom ejects)

If I uninstall kdemultimedia-kio-plugins, this doesn't happen!
