Bug#993297: kmod: /etc/init.d/kmod can't find run-parts executable

2021-08-30 Thread steph
Package: kmod
Version: 29-1
Severity: important

Since debianutils 5.0-1, run-parts executable has moved to /usr/bin.
/etc/init.d/kmod use PATH='/sbin:/bin' so it can't find run-parts.

A solution could be (like some other init files):

-PATH='/sbin:/bin'
+PATH=/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin

Thank you.

Bug#959034: scilab: Updating Buster (notification) => scilab 6.0.1 dead. Illegal reflective operation. java --version : => openjdk 11.0.7

2020-04-28 Thread steph
Package: scilab
Version: 6.0.1-10
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

*** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

   * What led up to the situation?
After updating Buster (2020-04-25) => unable to launch scilab 6.0.1-10
(was working before)
When launching scilab get Warnings messages (console) :
- illegal reflective access operation, etc...
- Unable to access to the main scilab class
- Exception in thread "main" java.lang.ExceptionInInitializerError
- Caused by : java.lang.NullPointerException
- Scilab can't create the main scilab java class. Chek if the scilab
pakages and thirdparty are accessibles.

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?

- I do nothing ! I'm just a very new user of linux. I am careful ! For
me it seems like a dependency problem, but I am too dummy :-( to be sure of
that

   * What was the outcome of this action?
   * What outcome did you expect instead?

Bug#617346: xulrunner: Reproducably hanging with 100% cpu

2011-08-10 Thread Steph
Hi,

I'm running stable on the workstation meaning the current iceweasel is
3.x. Nevertheless I've downloaded Firefox 5 and it works smooth. FF5 is
available as a 64-bit executable and therefore I was not depending on
the Debian branded browser anymore.

BTW: Icedove has comparable problems.

Thanks,
Stephan

I remember a wishlist report to turn this off, because it seems that
some thinkpad driver simulates a joystick that can be controlled with
the angle you hold your laptop. I'm therefore a bit reluctant to enable
 this.
That's a poor excuse to not enable it at compile time. Not everybody
owns a Thinkpad and the guys who do can invoke mplayer with
 -nojoystick...

I completely agree with that. Isn't it possible to enable joystick at
compilation
and to disable it in /etc/mplayer/mplayer.conf (with a little comment)?

Everyone will be happy: those who have issues with this option and those
who wants to use joystick input.

Ciao.

Bug#531191: grub-pc update: system unbootable

2009-05-30 Thread steph
Package: grub-pc
Version: 1.96+20090523-1
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks the whole system

Since last update my system is unbootable.
At start after the bios:
Error:the symbol 'grub_machine_fini' not found
Then, I have a grub-rescue prompt
This error becomes after a grub-install. If I downgrade to
grub-pc/testing, a grub-install command make my system bootable.

I think that this problem is different of #530927 #530357
because I've modified /etc/default/grub without any change.

The only way I can boot on this grub install on /dev/sdb is with
another grub from another linux on /dev/sda. If I make a chainloader
from this old grub, the grub on /dev/sdb works. In fact the problem
becomes when I want to boot directly from bios to /dev/sdb.

Bug#531191: grub-pc update: system unbootable

2009-05-30 Thread steph

Thanks for your answer.
I'm sorry because the problem came from my bios config.
The thing that made me thinking that was a bug is that was working
with grub 1.96+20090317-1 and not with the last update.
Please accept my apologies.
Is it possible to delete my bug report?

bye

Bug#390929: compiz fails to replace the current window manager(kwin)

Is there anything new about this bug?

People talked about missing window decoration, I more and more feel like
it's caused by the decoration plugin not being loaded by default by
Compiz. See http://bgoglin.livejournal.com/11253.html for some help
about this. Removing the whole compiz config from gconf (gconftool
--recursive--unset /apps/compiz might do the trick) might help too...

Hi !

I tried again yesterday evening and the commands below solved the issue :
$ gconftool --recursive-unset /apps/compiz
$ gconftool --set /apps/compiz/general/allscreens/options/active_plugins \
  --type list --list-type string \

'[gconf,png,svg,decoration,wobbly,fade,minimize,cube,rotate,zoom,scale,move,place,switcher,screenshot,resize]'

It might help if these commands where in the README.Debian file to easily
reset compiz config with a default one.

Thanks !
