And as I just ran into this problem too, add my version too. I installed upower and as one of its dependencies, usbmuxd got installed too: ``` Selecting previously unselected package usbmuxd. Preparing to unpack .../5-usbmuxd_1.1.1-3+b1_arm64.deb ... Unpacking usbmuxd (1.1.1-3+b1) ... Setting up libplist3:arm64 (2.2.0-7+b1) ... Setting up libusbmuxd6:arm64 (2.0.2-4+b1) ... Setting up libupower-glib3:arm64 (1.90.3-1) ... Setting up libimobiledevice6:arm64 (1.3.0-7.1+b1) ... Setting up upower (1.90.3-1) ... upower.service is a disabled or a static unit, not starting it. Setting up usbmuxd (1.1.1-3+b1) ... info: The home dir /var/lib/usbmux you specified can't be accessed: No such file or directory info: Selecting UID from range 100 to 999 ... info: Adding system user `usbmux' (UID 106) ... info: Adding new user `usbmux' (UID 106) with group `plugdev' ... info: Not creating home directory `/var/lib/usbmux'. ``` And indeed /var/lib/usbmux doesn't exist on the system where I installed it on. It's also installed on my main PC and that doesn't have that dir either. Shouldn't this bug have a higher severity? It creates a (system) user and it wants to create a home dir for it, but fails to do so. I haven't noticed any adverse affects, so I won't bump the severity, but as I don't have any iDevice I may not be considered a 'normal' user of the package. signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part.

That's not really enough to tell what's going on, and chromium doesn't add a usbmux user. Maybe you meant to file this against usbmuxd? Thanks, Andres
