Ah I see. :-)

Then I wrongly thought you might have missed the new major version,
when I saw that new package versions got released from the old major
branch :-D

Yeah,... I don't know why so many people think that smartphone UIs are
the way to go I mean smartphones and their UI style do have their
fixed place in the world, but one cannot really professionally work
with them.

Absolutely fine :-)

How's your contact with upstream? Few week ago I wrote upstream about
that still annoying #
.
But I was told quite quickly in an automated-reply fashion, that there
is no Linux support.

Cheers,
Chris.

I am naturally aware of the new release because I am in direct contact with
one of the upstream maintainers. The withheld update to 2.x is intentional
for two reasons.

First, the new version introduces a completely new user interface with features
removed such as the integrated list of service providers. The user interface
basically now looks like a scaled up phone app on the desktop which I consider
a huge step back.

And, secondly, the change of name of the binary package will result in the
package
being stuck in NEW for a while which is why I backported the two fixes for Qt
6.6
compatibility first to make sure the app doesn't break once Qt 6.6 is uploaded
to unstable (it's currently in experimental).

Overall, there is no urgent need to update to version 2.x right now, so I rather
want to take my time to come up with a proper transition plan with the potential
prospect of a better user interface.

Adrian

Package: ausweisapp2
Version: 1.26.7-2
Severity: wishlist

Hey.

A new upstream major version (2.x) is out, and they've apparently also
rebranded it back to just "AusweisApp" (i.e. no longer a 2 in the name).

Cheers,
Chris.
