Quite frustrating as the failure mode is without any visible warnings or hints at all. I hit the same issue on a Lenovo Thinkpad a while ago: https://www.mail-archive.com/debian-laptop@lists.debian.org/msg54007.html I believe this is worth a note in the installation guide. Bjørn

I haven't changed anything in the bios, and I don't know Windows, if it started accidentally then I stopped it again. I have the machine to borrow from a dealer. I have also tested if I could boot the installer with fastboot on or secureboot on. But that dit not work. Debian should work with secure boot on. Also the installer? I was interested and tried it. The Debian installer did not start with secure boot on. I've tried it again now and found in the bios an option "use Microsoft UEFI CA key". This option was off, when I turn it on the Debian installer did start with secure boot on. With regards, Paul -- Paul van der Vlis Linux systeembeheer Groningen https://vandervlis.nl/

Do you still have the installer logs (/var/log/installer/syslog) ? I will add the syslog. The error was "iwlwifi: probe of :00:14.3 failed with error -110" (Note for those who are reading this thread through the debian-boot mailing list: the mail with attachment was too big for the mailing list) Ah, maybe the next time better compressed... It was 1.1MB. So it is not related with the recent wireless bug in 6.1.66. It may be an initialization issue: this error has been observed when booting after Windows hibernation or Fast Startup state. There is Windows on the NVMe disk of the laptop. Fastboot and secureboot where off. My goal was to test if Debian would work fine without removing Windows, and it does. I have also tested if I could boot the installer with fastboot on or secureboot on. But that dit not work. See https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=209641 https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=201319#c55 for possible workarounds if it happens again. I see I did not use my Debian 12.4 stick, but a Debian 12.1 stick. When you tried the installer again, which version was it ? Again 12.1, because I wanted to see if that the problem was. But it worked, even with 12.1. It's a bit strange install, I did install on an external USB SSD. I do not think it is relevant. I think that too. So Linux hibernation worked fine using an USB disk.
