Bug#1059211: qemu-system-x86: QEMU/KVM guests: Window contents partially not updated
Package: qemu-system-x86 Version: 1:8.2.0+ds-1 Severity: important X-Debbugs-Cc: rz49...@gmx.net Dear Maintainer, after the latest QEMU packages update, I noticed strange redraw issues in VM guests’ X windows. I use XFCE on Debian Bullseye or Sid in all my VM guests. The lightdm logon pad partially does update the username when entering it. In the XFCE terminal window, the lower part (between 3 and 4 lines) only updates after several seconds. In Thunar, the upper part of the windows stays frozen for some seconds, while the lower part is redrawn when scrolling. Mousepad updates of parts of its window are also delayed. The same applies to Firefox. The top-right XFCE user menu does not seem to react to clicks, no menu is shown. Besides from these issues, everything seems to be working normally, no issues when SSHing to the VM guest. X clients access through SSH also works fine. Shutting down the VM guest, downgrading all QEMU packages on the host system to the versions from testing and starting the guest again resolves the issues for me. Thanks, /mjt Hi Michael, in my case, the problems seem to occur with virtio only, regardless of whether 3D acceleration is selected or not. I tried Bochs, QXL and VGA, and everything seemed OK using each one. Kind regards Rainer
