Bug#193849: procmail adds a blank line at the end of forwarded mail messages

Yes, I've just verified that a forwarding rule having the r flag does not add a newline. Thanks a lot, this fixes a bug which was two years old. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I mean that people expect procmail to work the way it works now. The behaviour of a tool like this with so many years of history should not to be changed lightly. At least, I'm not willing to make debian procmail to be incompatible with the rest of the world. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Quoting the README: Please note that this program essentially is supposed to be static; that means no extra features (honouring the VNIX spirit) are supposed to be added (though any useful suggestions will be appreciated and evaluated if time permits). If you want to suggest something, please contact the author. I definitenly am not willing to bother him with this minor issue in the name of Debian. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Bug#193849: procmail adds a blank line at the end of forwarded mail messages
Hi, being a procmail user for quite some time, I just set up spamassassin as a procmail filter and got the same problem of an added newline at the end of (single-line) messages as described in #193849. After applying the patch proposed by Santiago Vila back in 2003 and rebuilding the procmail package locally, the problem disappeared. Personally I'd like this patch to be reconsidered for inclusion at least into the Debian version. Regards, Fabian signature.asc Description: Digital signature
Bug#193849: procmail adds a blank line at the end of forwarded mail messages
Hi, apparently I haven't been using procmail long enough. :) Using flags frw instead of fw for the spamassassin receipt sets procmail to raw mode so it doesn't append newlines. (Also documented in the procmail man page just like this... Just that spamassassin examples don't use r, so I didn't look... :/ ) So could the original reporter perhaps have fixed his forwarding problem as well with this flag?
