That patch doesn't work for me, neither on the original source or
on the Debian patched source (lots of HUNK FAILED messages).
At what point do you insert the patch?
I have just renamed it to 64-fgrep.patch, moved to patch directory of
debian stable (sarge) grep source and it worked.
However, after many test I have discovered, that this patch still needs
some work - it corrects bad behaviour of fgrep 2.5.1, but breaks some
other things - in some rather rare cases patched grep hangs waiting for
never-comming-data. Probably there is needed some other patch used in
Fedora Core 2 grep, but I don't have much time to check this all. I use
grep with the patch which I have sent becouse I have a lot of shell
scripts depending of fgrep.
