And apparently, it is robust enough not to choke on those dir files that
Victor-Philipp Busch sent in 2008 (if that was the original problem).

We did not really a move forward in this bug in the last 15 years. We
discussed the topic, if info needs to be able to process a corrupt dir
file. Further we noticed that install-info needs to be more robust and
is Debian specific.
As of 5.2.0.dfsg.1-4 install-info is the one from upstream.

Is anybody of you still able to reproduce the problem or should we close
