There is no harm done in waving a flag for the user. Anyways, the current default for xffm is now the iconview where the described behaviour is not feasible (you cannot select parent and child at the same time) so there should be no problem with this in the next release of xffm. So they're not going to fix it. I can't reproduce this is 4.2.2. Can you test that version and let me know? I can still reproduce it with that version.
