They claim to have fixed this upstream - I've not verified this yet but
I'll have a look to at some point.

I've submitted this as a bug upstream for you.  You can follow it at

I can reproduce it so it should be easy enough to get resolved now.

nope, launching Emacs 21 (text) still launches a xterm and then a
separate window with Emacs.  Sorry.

It looks nice.

P.S. My current job ends this Friday, and I don't know if I will be
able to help you out anymore when I start my new job.  And I don't
have enough extra hardware at home.  Sorry again.
