Hi, I've tried kernel-source-2.6.10 (2.6.10-5) from unstable and id does not
helped. After 12 hours it has freezed. I'm attaching a config.

Hi,

kernel images from Debian distribution seems to have much higher uptime. I
really have no cue what's wrong. There are no symoops, the kernel was just
frozen. I cannot investigate the problem more deeply, because I'm no more
administrator of this machine.

Bug#287952: kernel-source-2.6.8: nfs-kernel freezes the system

2005-02-07 Thread Ondrej Medek
Package: kernel-source-2.6.8
Version: 2.6.8-13
Followup-For: Bug #287952

Hi, do you use NFS kernel server (from Debian)? NFS kernel server freezes
the whole system under 2.6.8, but on the 2.4.27 or 2.4.26 works fine. NFS
user server works fine even on the 2.6.8., but is much much slower. This
problem last from the september (when I tried 2.6.8 first time) until the
newest kernel-source-2.6.8-13.

AFAIK there ware lot of changes int the NFS server module in the 2.6.9, but
I have no time until the end of the Februaty to try it.

   MeDon

Is this a custom build of the kernel? If so
can you provide your .config, or better still
try using one of the kernel-images on d.o.

Can you provide the oops output run through ksymoops?

Is there anything particularly interesting that occurs
at the same time as the oops? e.g. The system is under high load.

Hi,

there are no oops. The system just freezes and only reset helps. I could not
find any particular event that trigger this bug. But maybe under high load
it occurs more often (once a 4 hours). I cannot try any other kernel now,
because I'm not physically near that machine. I'm just sending the config:

Hi, surprisingly, the kernel-image-2.6.8-2-686-smp, 2.6.8-13, has uptime 10
days. This never happened with kernel which I have compiled. Could it be
because of the irqbalance package has been installed?
