As in the other bug report, I'm currently using an emacs package from Ubuntu Intrepid: GNU Emacs 22.2.1 (i486-pc-linux-gnu, GTK+ Version 2.14.1) of 2008-09-05 on vernadsky, modified by Ubuntu And the bug doesn't appear there. Bug#291564: /usr/bin/emacs21-x: man pages not formatted quite right
Hi David, I'm triaging old Emacs bugs in Debian. On 2005-01-21 16:13 +0100, David N. I could not reproduce this, even after making the Emacs frame as small as 65 characters. This may be due to changes in man-db, could you please recheck? Bug#291564: /usr/bin/emacs21-x: man pages not formatted quite right
Package: emacs21 Version: 21.3+1-8 Severity: normal File: /usr/bin/emacs21-x Try opening a man page such as Tcl_FSRegister (tcl8.4-docs or -dev) via M-x man The text is not wrapped correctly - it is necessary to make the window much larger horizontally to accomodate all the text. In emacs: Tcl_Filesystem *fsPtr (in) Points to a structure containing the addresses of pro- cedures that can be called to perform the various filesystem operations. With the console man command: Tcl_Filesystem *fsPtr (in) Points to a structure containing the addresses of procedures that can be called to perform the vari- ous filesystem operations. The layout fits on the available screen size very nicely.
