Bug#299622: xserver-xfree86: dpkg-reconfigure does not create /etc/X11/XF86Config-4
Hi, About 2 years ago, you reported (or replied to) a bug in the Debian BTS regarding dpkg-reconfigure not creating XF86Config-4. Did you reproduce this bug recently? If not, I will close this bug in the next weeks. Thanks, Brice -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

No, I haven't seen this recently, but I now use Xorg rather than XFree86. dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg behaves in a more logical way in that it renames the existing file and writes the new one as requested. I have no way of knowing whether the fix suggested has been applied in xserver-xfree86. Regards, John Winters -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Hi Andreas, I'm not sure, but did you try to do the thing discribed in /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 (in file header) In fact, if you had already modified this file without dpkg-reconfigure, you have to do the followings : cp /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 /etc/X11/XF86Config-4.custom md5sum /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 /var/lib/xfree86/XF86Config-4.md5sum dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86 I hope this helps. Good luck ;-) -- Martin Braure de Calignon -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
