Bug#301444: bad nvidia resolution 800 x 600 **** SOLVED ****

2005-03-29 Thread browaeys . alban
clone 301444 -1
reassign -1 cupsys
quit

I am cloning the part about the printing system.

But wasn't there already a report about too xdebconf setting too
low resolution (talking about unreliable ddc.vbe detection) ?

I don't know if the xfree86 part of the report should be closed
..

Regards
Alban

Comments/Problems:
The big problem was the video card,
during the second installation I paid high attention to
supply correct information about monitor frequencies
31-65 KHz / 50-120 Hz
still I only have a bad resolution
 -> applications
 -> desktop preferences
 -> screen resolution
  800 x 600  #
  640 x 480  #  this is not acceptable
usually I have 1024 x 768
How can I change this ?
the network ftp installation was very good.
I hope that some comments about how to start up xfree86 can help.
I also noticed some complaints and warnings about the NVidia video card,
but I didn't know it was that bad.
How can I configure the screen resolution of my NVidia Video Card?
Also windowmaker would have been a nice alternative to gnome and KDE
But this KDE looks really nice.

Best regards
Morten Gulbrandsen
