Bug#304519: 'edit-log' command

2005-04-13 Thread martin f krafft

Severity: wishlist

Could you provide a command, edit-log, which calls make-log or uses
the generated filename and simply spawns an editor?

  $EDITOR -- $LOGFILE || editor -- $LOGFILE

Thanks,

Is the behaviour of "baz commit" with no -s (or -L) flag close enough to
this for you (it should spawn $EDITOR)?

I know, but it's not enough. I like to write the log file
incrementally while making changes. Right now, this requires me to
remember the filename somehow and start it with

  vim -- ++log...

every time I want to add a line.

Cheers,

How about "vim ++ `baz make-log`" then? It won't overwrite an existing
logfile, and it returns the same filename everytime you run it.

yeah, that is nice. Now I wish I could just save some typing and
simply run `baz edit-log` ... sort of like I can run dch to edit
debian/changelog.

Just a thought, just a wishlist.

How about 'make-log -e' or such?

I could be silenced with that. :)
