Bug#307285: gnome-ppp: Auto-reconnect not working

2005-05-03 Thread Arunan Balasubramaniam

Sorry, but it works for me (on latest Unstable system). Can you try
moving your configuration file to another directory and configure
gnome-ppp from scratch?
Thanks for the quick response, sorry I have only just found two hours
to check this.
 I renamed ~/.wvdial.conf to ~/wvdialconfold while Gnome-PPP was not
running and restarted it. I had no configuration, so entered my details as
before, checking the Auto-reconnect box. As before, the line was dropped
by my ISP after two hours, and Gnome-PPP brought up the front dialog
box with the username/password fields. It sat there for a minute or two
before I reconnected manually (clicked the button).
I diffed the old and new config files and the only difference was that the
new one has my ISPs number a second time in the Phone1 field
(probably my being dim somewhere, not unknown ;).
The following is probably is not relevant, but after manually reconnecting
the second time my connection log has:
-- Warning: Could not modify /etc/ppp/pap-secrets: Permission denied
-- -- PAP (Password Authentication Protocol) may be flaky.
-- Warning: Could not modify /etc/ppp/chap-secrets: Permission denied
-- -- CHAP (Challenge Handshake) may be flaky.
I'm guessing it's not of interest as my problem is that it does not dial
rather
than fails authentication, but am noting it just in case.

Bug#307285: gnome-ppp: Auto-reconnect not working

2005-05-02 Thread Arunan Balasubramaniam
Package: gnome-ppp
Version: 0.3.21-1
Severity: normal

The Auto reconnect option under Setup-Options is not working for me
anymore. I have tried unselecting it and closing the program then
restarting and selecting it again, but that does not seem to help. This
did work for me previously.

I think a new version of Gnome-PPP went in recently (I saw it was not in
testing for a while) but this might also have been me playing about with
the config files that say do not play with these files. I had thought
I did not save any changes, but if you can't reproduce the bug then it's
probably my fault, sorry :(
