And it seems it happens because I have some filenames that have ISO-8859-1 characters, that is, illegal UTF-8 sequences. Seems. It didn't happen right away, only when I played a file with said characters, but now I cannot get xmms and gkrellm to start together even with a valid song name, gkrellm just freezes right away...
