Bug#324643: symbolic link loop: /usr/src/linux-headers-2.6.12-1-386/arch/i386/Makefile

2005-09-30 Thread Jurij Smakov

Hi,

As far as I can tell, this bug has been caused by a packaging glitch, but
has been fixed at least since the release 2.6.12-6, while the current one
is 2.6.12-10. Is there any reason for this bug to be still open?

Best regards,

This was caused by a bug in 2.6.12-1, which persisted during an upgrade to -5.

Can you try uninstalling all the linux-headers-2.6.12-1* packages, and
reinstall the m ? This should solve the problem.

Waldi, even if 2.6.13 is at hand and should solve this issue, we should at
least document this or better yet issue a warning during install or fix the
issue.

Friendly,

Sven Luther

I tried
# apt-get remove --purge linux-headers-2.6.12-1 linux-headers-2.6.12-1-386
# apt-get install linux-headers-2.6.12-1 linux-headers-2.6.12-1-386
and, 'make modules' works well.

Thanks,
