The problem, has been observed on two computers - on one since KDE3.4 has been introduced into Sid, on the other since about two weeks ago. The only non-standard thing on both machines is that arts sound system is turned-off and the system sounds are played using /usr/bin/aplay or /usr/bin/play. I have also verified (with sound turned off) that knotify is started later then the applications restored by ksmserver. Restoring a session with a maximized window, where a sound is associated with maximization works, though the maximized application fills the screen for a few seconds before kicker is launched. Please ensure that you are running the latest Sid, including the latest arts packages. Also, is this a new problem, or one that you just noticed but could have been present for a while?
