Thanks That's the problem. In debian/patches/30_ast-data-dir.dpatch I'm
supposed change the default location for the .pid file, but for some reason
this didn't make it into the 1.2beta packages.

You need to apply:

- ASTVARRUNDIR=$(INSTALL_PREFIX)/var/run
+ ASTVARRUNDIR=$(INSTALL_PREFIX)/var/run/asterisk

to debian/patches/30_ast-data-dir

I shall upload another build to experimental.

Thanks for the heads up. We have started looking at packaging.

Do you have any feedback from the 1.2beta1 release in experiermental?

The main reason we are using experimental for the beta releases is that 1.0.9
hasn't yet made it through to testing yet, so this way we keep 1.0.9 and
1.2.0 in the archives.

Additionally there are some repacking issues with 1.2, as well stuff like BRI
which we are still working through. While the packing is in a state of flux
(and while upstream are beta) experimental makes a good standbox to play in.

Bug#336749: asterisk: Please package 1.2 beta 2

2005-11-01 Thread Alessandro Polverini
Package: asterisk
Severity: wishlist

1.2 beta 2 is out, from the changelog:
# Many, many bug fixes
# Documentation and sample configuration updates
# Vastly improved presence/subscription support in the SIP channel
# driver
# A new (experimental) mISDN channel driver
# A new monitoring application (MixMonitor)
# More portability fixes for non-Linux platforms
# New dialplan functions replacing old applications
# Significant deadlock and performance upgrades for the Manager
# interface
# An upgrade to the 'new' dialplan expression parser for all users
# New Zaptel echo cancellers with improved performance
# Support for the latest OSP toolkit from TransNexus
# Support user-controlled volume adjustment in MeetMe application
# More dialplan applications now return status variables instead of
# priority jumping
# Much more powerful ENUM support in the dialplan
# SIP domain support for authentication and virtual hosting
# Many PRI protocol updates and fixes, including more complete Q.SIG
# support
# New applications: Pickup() and Page()
# ... and many more I'm sure I've missed!

New packages welcome :)

P.S.: Since 1.2 betas are more than useable, I would suggest to upload
them in unstable instead of experimental...
