I am reassigning this bugreport to less, for the reasons explained below.
Please let us know if your default pager is different from less, you
can check by running
  # update-alternatives --display pager

This corrupted display appears with less 391-1 and 392-1, but neither
with 382-1 (sarge version) nor with upstream beta 393.  So it looks like
a bug in less, which had been introduced in 391 and fixed recently.
It may be a duplicate of #333475.

In the manpage of iconv, all parts in bold are wrongly displayed. For
example:

  N^HNA^HAM^HME^HE

This doesn't happen with other manpages.
