Hola Christoph Berg! linSmith is a Smith Charting program, mainly designed for educational use. As such, there is an emphasis on capabilities that improve the 'showing the effect of'-style of operation. If you have any better suggestions, I'd appreciate it. Seriously, does mainly designed for educational use mean it's useless to be used for actual engineering practice? I doubt that, but you pronounce that twice (even in the short description). Well, I use it for one of the subjects in my university, I wouldn't know how Smith Charts are used in normal life. I might as well remove the mention in the short desc and leave it only for the long desc. -- Besitos, {o_ Marga. (')_ -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. The only other suggestion I would have is to include a URL where more information) and some example charts could be found :) Hope that helps. As such, there is an emphasis on capabilities that improve the 'showing the effect of'-style of operation. . It's main features are: * Definition of multiple load impedances (at different frequencies) * Addition of discrete (L, C, parallel and series LC, and transformer) and line components (open and closed stubs, line segments) * Connection in series and parallel * Easy experimentation with values using scrollbars * A 'virtual' component switches from impedance to admittance to help explaining (or understanding) parallel components * The chart works in real impedances (not normalized ones) * Direct view of the result on the screen * Ability to generate publication quality Postscript output * A 'log' file with textual results at each intermediate step * Load and circuit configuration is stored separately, permitting several solutions without re-defining the other -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. My first thought is someone with the last name Smith, but that doesn't make sense given the rest of the description. Would it be possible to add a short sentence to the first paragraph explaining exactly what a Smith chart is? Hola Matt Brown! linSmith is a Smith Charting program, mainly designed for educational use. As such, there is an emphasis on capabilities that improve the 'showing the effect of'-style of operation. May I ask what a Smith is? My first thought is someone with the last name Smith, but that doesn't make sense given the rest of the description. It's actually a Smith Chart it's a special sort of diagram used in electromagnetism, to calculate the correct impedance to compensate a cable. As you see, it's quite specific, and it's difficult to make it more clear, I'll change Smith charting for making Smith charts that seems to sound a bit better, in the short desc, and make the long desc a bit more descriptive. This is what it looks like right now: Description: a program to make Smith Charts, mainly designed for educational use A Smith Chart is a tool used in electronics and electromagnetism to calculate the impedance necessary to compensate a certain transmission line. . linSmith is a Smith Charting program, mainly designed for educational use.
