exim uses the system resolver. I suspect a problem with that one.

Please give the contents of your /etc/resolv.conf, and the result of
dig ahrairah.local mx.

I would be also interested in seeing the output of exim -bt
ahrairah.local.

If this information is not delivered by 2006-02-28, this bug will be
closed.
